    Sound off!... Who's attending???

I'll be providing play by play from the ground, and in the cab...
Excited to get back in the business:biggrin_25519:. Haven't been in a truck (besides CDL Class the last three weeks at MTC in Hazelwood, MO) since 1988...

I depart Greyhound in St. Louis 09/16 and arrive in Green Bay Monday/17th at 11:AM.

@killer60148... NEVER... Last thing I want to do is muck up a good thing... Schneider seems to really be taking care of us, and I'm not going to blow it by doing anything stupid.... SAFETY FIRST!

    Hey all...

Sorry it's taken soo long to reply, but week one here in Green Bay is in the books, and I have the nice certificate to prove it... For some background let's get started.....

    Day One -- Tuesday
Paperwork, and LOTS of it... Everything from Federal, State, Local, Banking, D.O.T., and the like. Takes MOST of the day.
Pre-Work Screen... This is the test that ensures that you have both the Physical, and Medical ability to perform the job... First out of the gate is the "dreaded" blood pressure test... Mine was actually quite high, and I was referred to the company physical therapist for review. I moved on, and passed all the different phases of the test including 12" step test, Squats, Front Carry, Floor to Head Lift, Crouch, Step Step, Kneel Kneel, Floor to Waist Lift, Waist to Shoulder Lift, Horizontal Pull, and Horizontal Push...
Lunch -- really the food in the cafeteria is not that bad. They take care of you here...
Limousine ride to and from the Hotel is truly a blast from the past. Just an old bus painted true to Schneider Pumpkin.

Day Two through Day Four -- Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Paperwork - Yup... more paperwork, but mostly review of all your forms, and some corrections that need to be made. Then it's time to hit either the yard or the road. for the next three days you rotate between Yard for half the day, and then Road for the other half with Lunch and minor paperwork splitting the two.
Yard includes slow maneuvering, backing and Pre-Trip. It's all Schneiderized with easy to follow pre-printed procedures. If you can read and follow directions, you have it made. (You still need to perform though...)
Road is fun, as you are acquainted with the tractors, and given more procedures for safe operation of the equipment. It's ALL about "Safety First and Safety Always"... Take that to heart, and take it to the bank.
Friday is "put up or shut up" day. Road tests and Yard Tests are given and if you can show progress, and can actually back, slow maneuver, Pre-Trip, and Drive, you move on to Saturday.

    Day Five -- Saturday
Paperwork - Sorry, but your work is never done. Also Test day. Review and complete all the "policy" sections of driver information, take a D.O.T. open book and Logging open book test. Also included is Simulators Examples, and Fifth-Wheel and Tandem slides. You pass, you move on to Training Engineers, you fail, you get two more chances to show that you can perform...

I can't say enough about the professionalism, competent, and overall caring attitude that ALL my contact points with Schneider Personnel have been. From my recruiter, the OC manager, and all the training staff here in Green Bay, Schneider National, Inc. has provided the best atmosphere for a new driver to be welcomed "onboarded" into the company.

Starting Monday, I'll be on to Step two in the process, Riding/Driving with my assigned Training Engineer... This is where the rubber hits the road. We are assigned trainers, and actually go out with them and perform tasks under the supervision of our road instructors. They will set our own specific expectations, and evaluate our ability to actually combine our road skills with other skills that will be introduced throughout the week.... I'll update this probably next weekend if i don't get a chance to hit a hot-spot on the road.....

Hey Ike... Not really, just going through in my mind the highlights of the week... All the instructors here really do invest the time and effort into us to ensure that we do it all right, safe, and the Schneider way...

    Hi Killer60148,

Going out with Kirk... His tractor just got out of the shop today, so we are packing up near 11:AM tomorrow (or somewhere near there)...

I can't say enough about all the trainers up here in Green Bay. Most all of them take the time and effort to make you feel welcome and go the extra mile to ensure you are trained the "Schneider Way"...
