jamesg, thanks for that great info. I'll be heading through that area in a few days. Excuse my ignorance... What is the "zed?" "Green hat?"

Do you think they would take a look at a green hand with a class 1 but no experience?

Zed is a red deer radio station, 98.9 I think, green hat is a guy with less than 6 months, and I do believe the frac companies hire new class 1's.

    Westcoastsailor Thanks this.

The zed = local radio station. Green hat/hand/head=inexperienced emmployee who you need to watch so he doesn't hurt himself or anyone else or damage the machines

    Westcoastsailor Thanks this.

Thanks for the info re. Schlumb.

So I guess it's legit that greenhorns can get into some of these programs and earn good coin.

Hmmm...wondering how a greenhorn would fare trying to get a foot in the door with some of these companies?

Don't believe the hype. First year frac pump operators will make $65 to $80k a year. As you move up into other positions the pay gets better. Only on seriously busy seasons will a pump op make $100k a year. This year was a long wet breakup, who knows what next year will bring.

Gas Frac pays the best, but fracing with propane is dangerous. We have pump operators that came from Schlumberger, Sanjel, Baker and Halliburton.
