Hi Guy's and Gal's, I an experienced hand, I have driven van, reefer, hopper bottom, pneumatic, liquid, and flat beds and am currently driving liquid (food grade) and am looking for a new job as I am not happy where I am now, I'm 52 so I am not crazy to do a lot of unloading but I still can. I would like to find a job that I can stay at until I retire. I live in central Florida so that does limit who I can hire on with and was looking for some input from some of the hands that have been doing this for more then a couple of years and have more then a year at their current job. Who is the best out there right now, not only pay but benefits, working conditions, equipment, ect. I have a good record so getting past the safety department is not a problem. I hate changing jobs and would like to find my last one. Thanks in advance for your input.
Who is the best carrier hiring out of Florida.

I'm out of Jacksonville, Fl and work for Heartland Express. They're decent and great pay i'm staying here until I decide to switch to local trucking

Are you working local, regional, or otr for them ? I was looking hard at them and I have had several drivers tell me that the top pay drivers get all of the short stuff and the lower paid drivers get the longer trips.(I would come in at top pay they have already told me that) also how does that auto idle work for you? When the temp is nice I like to leave my truck off, however I have heard several complaints about the truck shutting off leaving the fans blowing warm air when you are sleeping.

I would say Calex Logistics out of Pittston PA.

VERO is the best pick in my opinion. They are a decent outfit.

I run otr (system) for Heartland and I still get home every other weekend so far. Regional work claimed 3 out of 4 weekends but paid between 5 and 8 cents based on Florida reg. or Atlanta reg.(southeast div). Not sure about the mileage scheme but at 43 cents i'm averaging between 1900-2900 miles depending on if it's the week I go home or the one i'm out for a full 7 days. Some people like them some don't but they've treated decent so far.

*5 and 8 cents less

Lessors, Heyl, Severt are good companies. There is a tanker outfit ( Indian Valley?) that are pretty decent as well.
