Coolant and oil levels going up or down or stay same?

Looking at a nozzle ain't as good as pop testing it.

What he said, I would have the nozzles checked or swap them for rebuilt ones but make them pop test them too. I rigged up a compression tester adapter which ain't hard and still using one of the diesel compression testers they sell on E-Bay, could give you some insight as to which hole to look at, or pull the manifold and look at each exhaust port. sounds like it could have burned a hole in a piston or more likely a broken piston. Are you hearing any other sounds besides the miss or smell a funny odor?

Like the others have said, I think you have a cracked piston or scored liner. With this being a C model it could have steel top pistons depending on the Hp rating. You'll need to check the oil jet cooler nozzles if you find a bad cylinder as one may have broke and the piston got to hot causing the issue

Have you found anything yet? Probably the easiest thing would be to drop the oil pan and look from the bottom, you'll probably see a scored liner from the bad piston.

I use ProDiesel/DSS to check nozzles or swap out, there's one on Fesslers Lane in Nashville, also most big truck dealerships can do them also. Before you run all over the country I believe I would drop the pan and get an idea of what all you need. Good luck

Taylor Diesel can pop test them too. He's right about half block east of TruckPro on Elm Hill Pike.

I don't think he charged me to test mine cause I had oversize nozzles he rebuilt. Well, he sent them off to Texas somewhere.

I wouldn't mess with rebuilt ones again. I had one start to come apart and leak fuel into oil.

Dropping the pan can turn into a project. When I put new bearings in last year had the 2 rear corner bolts break. Had to build them up and weld nut on them and pray they turned out!

Then clean and new paint around lower part of engine and pan.
