Thanks. Already applied to Scott Safety. And a few others. Waiting to hear back.

Kinda split between that and getting class 1 but just spreading the odds and getting my skills updated between career moves. On some down time I'll work towards ACP too, but that's for the future. OFA3 was intense enough...

If a medic job came up that would be cool, maybe add in some safety and admin responsibilities, orientations etc. No worries dealing with trauma and stuff like that, life or death scenarios.

What is air hand, BTW? I'm unsure of that. Air hand for a heli company?

Frac crews are on the road in hotels most if not all of the shift from what I've heard, my job is a bit different as we work with the frac crews but are back in sylvan most nights, maybe a motel now and then...

    Fluid Haul vs Service Company:
    ****************************

Any body want to comment on which job they prefer?

Hours? Money? Difficulty? Time at home?

fluid haul is a driving job.

Rzl-Dzl, have you done both? Do you have a preference? It seems to me you're working way harder and home much less if you;re working for a service company. Am I wrong?

    ive done neither

i work with guys that have done either/both/quit here to go do either

the fracguys we got had to be taught how to drive, they had minimal exp...but had to teach the driving in the center of the road out of both groups of guys.

here in the town i work out of, twice in last 6mos, haliburton has torn up the curbs and the ~1000# stones left on the curbs to stop trucks from driving up on the curbs.

i like driving....but i love $....i lean moar fluid hauling cuz of the driving and being away from the crew.

but then id rather have a hotel than a sleeper, but id rather be clean all day and inside temp controlled cab than outside in the elements.

i ask all the ex and future oilfield guys we get, cuz i want to knwo whats goin on over there and what job to go for if i leave this job.

for me, id be away from home at either job...i live in 100 mile house and aint moving, period....so id be fluid hauling or service company both away from home

    Westcoastsailor and oilfield Thank this.

Excellent response Rzl-Dzl. I think I too would prefer fluid haul over service company work and thats the type of work I intend to pursue. The adventure begins tomorrow morning at 6AM as I leave Vancouver for Edmonton and the GODI course.

Anybody else wanna weigh in on Fluid Haul vs Service Company?

Razl, home at night means my apartment in sylvan, not Vernon of course. And I have done fluid hauling and didn't like sleeping in the bunk and showering in gas stations and long road hours, so I went for service company but went with the easier of jobs but still great pay
