LOL... Ok here is an update... Was lining myself up for a trailer washout (I-55 Truck Stop in IL) and stopped behind another truck... Well he decided to back up and yep, his trailer hit the front of our truck!! It's drivable, because I had just gotten it into reverse, at the same time as blowing our air horn, so just cracked our plastic bumper and grill... It hit right where the airbag switch was. I say was because it broke the bracket the switch was attached to, but didn't pop the air bag... THANK GOD!! Sigh... So glad my driving shift is done for the day!!

    Yep, the realities of trucking!!

Good luck and keep them wheels turning. The last check hubby got was 8/14. All the rest have been negative numbers since he was broke down, don't know if next week is going to be - or + yet. Not including motel bill that is separate to paycheck.

I guess I posted too soon. Gosh I guess some people just don't think to check first or think anyone can be behind them. Did you report it, he most likely will get a preventable on his dac. Duct tape time.

You bet I did... It would be a fire-able offense if I didn't... Not going to risk that. I wasn't going to do a police report until he started trying to say I hit him!! After he backed up into me he took off like he was going to run, but another truck got in his way, and I pulled up along side him... I think he was going to 'hit and run'. It was a rental truck (Hertz) with a company name name stuck to the side. He had a paper temp license because he 'lost' his... ARG!! Makes me ticked even typing about it!! We got oodles of pictures though, and there really wasn't anything I could have done except get it into reverse sooner... I just wish someone in that full parking lot would have stepped up and said they had witnessed it! Sigh...

Oh I am VERY grateful it didn't go off!! However a little concerned too... The bumper got pushed back far enough to break the bracket holding the trigger switch... You would think it would have triggered it as well... So it is zip tied up under the hood... We have to take the truck in to get the heater core replaced, might as well get the bumper and switch bracket replaced while we are there and in a loaner truck.

Sounds like your bad luck has turned a corner with the other driver admitting he backed into you. It sounds like hit-n-run is common around truck stops.

There is a good book called 'In the drivers seat' by Marc Mayfield. He tells about a few times being hit while parked at truck stops. In one incident his truck got real messed up and the hassle he went thru getting things fixed. His truck was a lot more damaged than yours form the sound of things. I'd recommend the book to anyone looking into trucking there is lots of good info and the parking lot hits shows how one minute you have a load, making money, getting some much needed rest when someone else can screw up you day without any fault of your own.

OK, from now on only good stories about getting good loads and rebuilding your savings, OK?

After posting this I feel it looks like I'm selling that book, I have no connection with the sales of that book other than buying a copy.

Almost to SLC... Delivering in ID, then picking up in ID and taking it to SLC... I wonder what type of 'loaner' we will get :)

    Accident photo advice.

    When possible,

always take a good full picture of the other party.
