Ugh, Kroger Cincy sucks. That Hatfield load on the other hand, shouldn't disappoint (for a backhaul) when your check comes.

Yep, getting out of cincy sucks, the way they have the streets and freeway exits does too ,I've always hated that area since i started driving 17 years ago.(I still refer too it as ####innati.) I didn't get out of the shipper until evening, then made a wrong turn and found myself on 75 north,(i was trying to get to the TA just south of there to scale out), made two more wrong turns, then got pointed south, got off the wrong exit, made a couple more wrong turns, finally got to the TA, scaled out, and took the very last parking spot. I decided to take my 10 hours there, since if i burned out my last 3 hours trying to head west, most everything would be full by then. Was woke up by the low voltage alarm on the truck, wonder how this was going on when i almost always shut the truck down for 8 hours or so and it always starts. I went to start it, and wouldn't even crank over enough to fire up. Got the jumper cables out, figuring maybe if i ran the reefer it might push the voltage up a half a volt to work.....and it started up. After the way this week has been going with various equipment and electronic device problems popping up, then resolving themselves, I'm starting to think there is a conspiracy against me.:biggrin_2551:

Ouch man. I got lost going into there and took the scenic tour of the hilly, tight residential area before I snaked my way back down to where I needed to be...of course, that was on the heels of spending 17 hours at John Morrell because dumb and dumber (George's and JM) couldn't figure out when I was supposed to be there. Solution? Just unload him 9 hours late based on the last possible appointment time he might have had! And, as far as I know, I still haven't gotten detention on that one. I need to call Sharon.

Welcome to Holcomb. I was so happy to get out of that cluster routine at VW when I moved from Harrisburg to Hatfield. About every other week I'd have to take the rabbit trails from the house to Newark, DE, tip toe through Newark, get loaded at Astra Zeneca, have just enough time on my 14 to make it to Groveport, OH and take a 1-5 hour nap before Cardinal Health would bang on my door, take another 0-2 hr nap, sneak over to the Wendy's lot and hope to get in and out after eating Micky D's breakfast, and take another nap maybe. That's the best part of the round. The folks at both places are pleasant and they don't take very long.

Then comes the news that you're bouncing to Kroger Cincy, to pickup one not scheduled to load til tomorrow. They do have drop trailers there, apparently just for their extra cold storage convenience. They'll get it done just when you have 8 or 10 or 14 in, but haven't slept a wink. Despite this, do to the delivery schedule, and that you've been sitting around in downtown Cincy, on the wrong side of the tracks, all day, starving, you'll go down to the TA, hopefully not get lost, scale, get some Popeyes, dew, coffee, 5 hr, and a pack of smokes, and go back up around that god forsaken city and get some miles in.

You press on through the night, telling yourself it will all be worth it to cross 270 in the wee hours and be on the west side of St. Louis before morning. You'll welcome a full, uninterrupted 10 at the hook, and maybe sleep in extra, knowing you have only 200 some miles to go this Wednesday afternoon. You do fear however, that if you get to Hutchinson too late, there will be no place for you to go, and the bears there are not shy.

You'll spend the morning getting unloaded, then figure you might as well go back to the TS and have Pizza Hut for lunch, as there's a whole lot of nothing from here to Holcomb. Your load won't be ready, no matter how late in the evening you get in, but you can be sure it will DD at an hour one one should be awake, and you'll have to get your butt up just as REM hits full effect, and haul ### to Ottawa, IL. It's Friday morning, and I'm in Kansas...FML.... The End.
    *applause*
Thank you. Thank you. Hope you enjoyed my Groundhog Day saga. I really do despise that round/lane. Takes you 8 days to make what you could make in 5 (and be home!), everything going perfect. Although I understand VW doesn't pull AZ anymore?

Oh and just to warn the new guys, if you run US-83 out of Garden City up towards 80, dot every i and cross every t going through Scott City. The revenuers do some of their best work there.

Oh yeah Mark I think I ended up on that same detour you were once, trying to be a smart guy on the way back from the TA. Fortunately for me, I was bob tailing.

HOME till Monday morning after delivering in South Holland, IL. Where I had to wait almost an hour for them to find the owner of some beat up Oldsmobile Ciera. This genius employee parked in a no parking zone that blocked my right of way to back into dock. This area was clearly marked with two signs on posts, three parking pylons marked and the pavement painted no parking as well. If this kid, he was in his 20's, worked for me, I'd fire him for incompetence!
