It does not make sense.

If you can pass the physical and background check, Prime will train anyone. Anyone, except a person with a current CDL and no recent experience.

-"Local" driver with current CDL? yes there's training miles for you
-Recent CDL school grad? yes there's training miles for you
-Recent refresher course and current CDL? yes there's training miles for you
-Got recent verifiable OTR experience? yes, if Safety doesnt think you have enough there's training miles for you
-Prime drivers who screw up? yes, sometimes its a choice of either your job or there's training miles for you
-No CDL, no experience? yes, there's training miles for you. Even if you have never been in truck!

 

I read it somewhere in the prime threads that prime does not accept refresher courses and sometimes, not even cdl graduates from cdl schools. Dan, i understand your feelings about this, i don't want to give them up either, but i want to go trucking again, and i will do what i must to get back in a truck and get my trucking career going again. If you know of a trucking company that will train me without surrendering my cdl, i will be glad to hear it. I do have another reason for wanting to go to prime to start over, it has to do with a health issue that would be resolved when i get on with prime. Danfromwindsor, i appreciate the suggestion, but it would not work for me to go there. I think you have to graduate from cdl school to go to that program. If i did not have health issues i would still be with the company i had to leave in 08. It's other issues that prime can help me with that the company you work for can't.

 

Perhaps it has to do with their school accreditation.......

 

I know a guy that wanted to come to prime and they told him he had to take a refresher at the CDL school he attended.he paid $1000 for the refresher then prime denied him for a previous weed possession charge

 

That's what i was thinking... something to do with Missouri perhaps. I asked one of the safety guys about it today, and they didn't really know. Trying some of the folks in the training side...

Yeah, that's generally a deal killer. We tell folks who ask to come clean with everything up front, just to avoid situations like that.

 

If I got my cdl permit in Mississippi do I have to take the test again at prime

 

No... but you will have to take the hazmat test again when you transfer your license back to Mississippi. That one doesn't transfer, but everything else does. Best thing to do is just wait on the hazmat endorsement until after you have your CDL.
