Just left this crew. I quit. Seemed like a bunch of rude, arrogant and immature people there. The older equipment is being replaced and this is a good thing. The unethical practices were too much for me. Illegal logging of hours, HOS violations, paying for tolls out of my pocket and maybe being reimbursed, as well as other issues. DOT wants my statements and copy of my logs for an investigation of sorts. This may be interesting.

The illegal logging is what made me quit in the first place. They flat out told us in orientation that if you are running low on hours, give them a call and they will show you how to "find" more. They encouraged us to make our logbooks into loose leaf logs to make "finding" hours easier. I should have ran right then, but didn't.

Thanks for the reply. I am getting the feeling that to work in this field you need to be a liar and/or a cheat. That is a bit hard to believe. Anyone Know of any reputable and ethical trucking companies? I looked at the forum link and they seem to be company bashing mostly. I am in WA now but plan to head East. Willing to relocate to Western PA off of either I 90 or I 80. Gonna look once I get there.

I love my current company, which is American Central Transport. (ACT) I would tell you all about them, but you are moving from being too far west to being too far east. There are some out there who will lie, cheat, and steal, but not everyone. They give the rest a bad name. I've actually had pretty decent experiences at most places I've been, with one glaring exception...

Well I got my check for my last full week. They did not pay for half of the miles, took out for advances that were not taken, and did not pay for lumping a load that i lumped. Needless to say it was a bit short. I called to see if we could fix the problem and was told by Jeremy that they have no respect for drivers that quit on them and he hung up. My dispatcher would hang up as well. So, I wonder what recourse do I have? Similar story as to another here...the cost of a suit vs biting the pill. I can bite this pill but is their freight safe treating drivers in this manner?

If you can afford to fight this stuff at all, you should. Make them work harder to steal from you. If they knew every one would fight them on principle, they at least wouldn't be so blatant about it.
-
I wish I could have. But it was really impossible. Until karma comes around to bite them, the best I can do is warn every driver I can.
Swindled, you of course know they will jack up your DAC? The good thing for me was that companies I applied to afterwards knew to ignore anything they report. I've had several laughs about it with recruiters. They don't realize how many people know about how K&B does business. -
Thanks for the info. As far as the DAC there is nothing to report and if they falsify anything that Karma you mentioned will be released upon them. They will not be able to hide, so bring it on.

I drive for kb and have no complaints but then again im not an OTR driver either.I speak to many kb otr drivers and they've been with the company for yrs and have no complaints.Like any other company, you do your job,get lds delivered and picked up ontime, not whine about every little thing because all whining does is get you in the unemployment line.I also speak with many otr, regional and dedicated dispatchers and they all seem nice to me.Dispatchers with any company can be your best friend or your worst nitemare.

Pattyj, I guess you have not been asked to falsify your logs (I was instructed that if I did not then I would be terminated) violate the 11 and 70 hour rules, not get paid that Guarantee of 950 per week (I was available for the entire week and did not get the amount) get hung up on when calling in to dispatch, being told that the company does not respect drivers and again be hung up on, being told that if you quit and bring the truck to the yard you would get a bus ticket home with no charge ( I did as they wanted and was charged for the ticket), unauthorized advances being taken from pay was just discovered.
So, if you are happy...GREAT! I am happy for you. Wish I was in your position.
