Don't you guys know by now? If it's not making the higher ups more mulah in there pocket it ain't gonna happen. Drivers are nothing to any company really. Just meat in the seat who can easily be replaced.

Maybe if they had higher standards in their hiring process and tried to keep their safe and experienced drivers happy and not leaving by the dozens those accident numbers would be way way down. The company is rapidly turning into just another starter company, a place to pay your dues until you find the job you wanted in the first place. I also see a lot of job hoppers coming onboard, usually leaving after a month or two. Guys that talk bad about every OTR megacarrier because they have worked at EVERY OTR megacarrier.

And Conway will not go bankrupt, I doubt their accounting dept is hurting. With all the tax credits, tax cuts, incentives and government checks they get every time a student gets hired, all the fuel discounts, discounts they get from the large truck orders, all the perks of being too big, they are doing just fine.

Yeah, you keep thinking they will not go broke. I have seen bigger than them go out of business. They will merge or sell off to another, safer carrier, that pays less, and many will be out of a job.
If there are 200 accidents a month, and something is not done quickly to correct the problem, they will soon be gone.

That's reality. Owner OP or bust for me. Company driving is for the birds.

We seriously have waaaaay to many accidents. 8% of our fleet get into accidents EVERY MONTH! Its ridiculous. Higher standards is needed, but I was hired as a student so I shouldn't agree but I do. This was once known as a career company now its just like any other starter company I suppose. I have pride in this company and my hopes are high that my fellow cwtqers can keep their #### together long enough to get a safety bonus or 2

Haha you keep your own #### together ! I get mine every quarter...$347 this check ...and don't forget 95% of those accidents are at 15 mph or less ...backing ,rollways??(not sure how they get out if the truck and don't pull the brakes out?) Sept was high on DOTS ...not sure why ,think we had less back in Febuary ...and yeah unless the company starts breaking it down by exp , you can't say they are all by rookies ...even old fart truckers get lazy & stupid ...I just try not to be one lol

I delivered to a UPS yard last week. There was an accident report hanging on the wall. 90 something for the month for that branch. A fairly large branch but still not the size of Con-Way. Oh, by the way, of the 90 something wrecks, over 70 of them were on the yard! Summary, experienced drivers (UPS doesn't hire students) have wrecks, at slow speeds, and very close to home. I suspect they are hitting more things away from the terminal but not reporting and no cameras watching.

Bottom line, anybody can have a wreck if you lose focus. Know your route so you don't have to look at notes while in motion. Stay off the phone until you are out in the middle of Kansas somewhere. In traffic, look at all mirrors and as far ahead as you can see, every 6 to 8 seconds.

    Focus. Be safe, have fun.
