    Not everybody does.

I'm still undecided whether I like this base salary plus bonus structure. I never know what I make until I see my pay stub. Prefer hourly rates.

Thank you all so much for your input!

Sanjel did say no way to the 21/14 during the interview (after HR had said yes, grrrr). I suppose we'll know more on Monday.

There are pros and cons to both.

Salary is good for spring break up, because you know you will be making at least your salary.
Where as hourly, you could have no hours in the spring.

We have straight hourly with a guarantee at STEP. Best of both worlds. Very good income when its busy, decent income even when its slow.

Looks like this week is going to close at 95 hours of field rate with another ten of driving allowance. Been running 80+ field rate hours per week since I started...

STEP is great to work for. Small company with a great business plan and lots of funding. Seems to have skimmed a lot of management cream from the best of the rest so its a very pleasant place to work.

Where are STEP based? I haven't heard of them before.

Blackfalds, just north of Red Deer. You can see the signs from Hwy 2, including the hiring now signs. :)

Are the a cimpany with "accommodations" provided? Or do you have to get your own place?

You need some place to hang your hat in the Red Deer area. That could even be a motel room which might be the cheapest way to go. You probably won't be using it much though, we are extremely busy. My shop time is very low compared to my field hours. I might spend two nights in Red Deer for each 15 day work shift, at least the way things are now.

If anyone is interested, you may want to have a look at the website. The culture here is quite different to most oilfield companies and its the first to exceed my expectations and also exceed what they promised in the interview processs. Very unusual.

Hey desolation, so my shop pays base salary and hourly as soon as you get in a truck plus meal allowance, how does field rate and driving allowance differ? Or maybe please explain them? Thanks

Just flew out from the east coast, so basically Ideally somewhere with accommodations provided would serve me best while on shift. Don't really want to get an apartment cause I plan on flying home on my time off. Any ideas? Will be crashing on my sister in law's couch while in Stettler while I look. So Red Deer and area would be perfect.

    Thanks
