Depends on the base and just where the threat level is, some places are just tight and others are not.

since original post sweeps with a wide broom here is my thought => going on large base, the entire nine eleven thing happened a year or two or something into the project, I completely lost all faith in the hope of freedom ^when^ private contractors started doing the vehicle sweeps ~ the machinery to "gamma-ray" can pick up a lot so judgement of officers on the line is centrally critical to how efficient & correct the operation is - what I see most of the time today is bias from previous era just swapped and propagated with the banner "equal" so if someone is denied entry for most reasons I chalk it up to new-hire on the security line or orders from the same thing a level or two up

I really really do not see why & where the basis is for insisting on documents that are easier to forge than something like a T.W.I.C. but any data-professional knows [ some risks I do not wish to post here ] but I would pigeon-hole the incident for now and ask several of your drivers over the next 30-60-90 days if it happened again ...... if it does then you just respond as best for your company

This seems awful strange. We have hauled AA&E for the last 5 years and have never been asked for a birth certificate. I have a friend who immigrated here from Romania and became a U.S. Citizen and he has never been asked for a birth certificate either. Granted that we both have DoD secret clearances but most gates never check that status.

I once picked up a load at Ft. Hood and delivered it to the Red River Army Depot. Getting into Ft. Hood was a cinch. Getting into Red River, not so much. Had to wait for a security clearance background check. A lot of fuss for what was essentially garbage but that's the military for you, lol.

You're talking about the Trident sub base at Bangor and that depends where you're going on base. You go to the Exchange it's a breeze but go down to the piers it's much different. When you can see things that are sensitive you'll need tighter security. But being a U.S. Citizen I have never been asked that plus how would you explain all the active military that are not citizens? For a clearnace yes but there's only a few places that I know that you need a clearance to enter the main part of the base. Even Bremerton you can get on the base but you'll have big problems getting into the shipyard. One base that you need at least a conf. clearance to get into is in the NV desert. But again that's a base on a base ,sort of.
