What to buy?

    The warranty does not cover your hotel, bill, your mortgage, your expenses, your truck payment that will still be due. When the truck is broke, you make no money. Easier for people to get by with a paid off truck or lower payments.

    However this wont seem to be a problem because you must have won the lottery.

    1. I don't have a mortgage
    2. I am trying to understand if it is better to buy the truck outright or have a payment each month on the truck? I am also still trying to find the answer on how much a truck costs to run each month. I understand there are multiple things that need to be paid for but so far I have found little info on how much that costs.
    3. I did not win the lottery.

    Hey There Again, I find you ideas very intresting, you want to own and drive a new truck, but yet you keep saying you dont want to be an Owner Operator. Driving a new truck is nice, no doubt, but I think you are over thinking the problems ytou might have with an older truck, and usually they are not so old.
    I think everyone here is on yourside, it also seems everyone here has giving you about the same advise. Someone mentioned that you will do what you want (My dad always said that to me, and it brought a smile to my face) and I did.
    Once again, I will say rethink you bussiness plan, but now I think you may not have one. Those BigOle trucking companies may just not want to give the new guy with the new truck a try, if he hasnt proved himeself. Owning a truck is a bussiness, and its a tough bussiness, and it too can be rewarding, but you have to know what your doing, you have to have a plan, and the only way you will learn is to do for someone else for a while.

    I appreciate the view on it thank you. I would not be going into this with just me hoping I do it right. Already have people who have been in the business who are going to help me with the business side if I do end up going the O/O route. So I will have plenty of resources at my disposal as I go into this.

    Totally uncalled for. I am just trying to gather answers nothing wrong with that. No idea why you feel the need to take a shot over the internet at somebody you know nothing about. Pretty pathetic in my book.

    Why is it you are asking the same question again over a year later, or at least a variation of the same question? Did you hope the answer would be different this time around?

    That might have been my first post on here haha. I was looking at it from a pure job numbers standpoint if a truck would increase my opportunities. I found out that it doesn't but I didn't go buy a truck right away because I had to learn a bunch in the past year about what I would be doing.

    Again my question this time was what trucks would people want to buy. I was just looking for suggestions of what trucks people liked.

    Check it out....

    Go to some company with pretty new trucks that takes beginners, drive for them for a year, learn the ins and outs. There is a lot you will be surprised at. While you are running for said company, track everything, including maintenance, fuel, tires, EVERYthing as if you were an O/O. At the end of that year, see how much you would have earned as an O/O, and decide whether or not the extra work (bookkeeping, filing quarterly self-employment taxes, paying for your individual health insurance policy, etc...) is worth it. Remember, you will have less "down" time when you are keeping all of those books. Complete all the appropriate tax forms and everything, just don't turn them in. Get hold of an Insurance Broker to get quotes on what your individual health policy will cost you. Track EVERYthing, down to the last nickel. You will then know whether or not you should become an O/O or not.

    On the other hand, if you want to risk over $100k and potentially watch it fly away like dried skin on a sunburned fat chick, I'll be more than happy to PM you my address and you can just give it to me.
