'New' revenue stream?

When I was not making a lot I would lump what made sense (loved those pre-packaged salads) but when you start making real money then the potential for injury, even on the light stuff, just doesn't make it worth. If it is about the exercise, get out and walk while truck is being unloaded.

Or if you want to make some real money and get exercise then switch to flats.

 

If they pay enough, I will.

One regular customer I have is 1 skid of about 40 cases (600lb or so total) broken down into two pallets. $20, takes about 5-10 minutes total and that includes waiting for the receiver to check the pallets. Or I could pay $25 for a lumper to get to my truck whenever they feel like it and I'll sit there a few hours.

 

Our if you are greedy like me and want all the money that you can earn lumping is a good way to add to my already $4+ per mile load. Heck I have workmans comp, AFLAC, life insurance, and other life insurance in case any thing happens. LOL

 

If you ever load candy, just say no.

Usually the number of lines in your bills is a good guide as to whether it's going to hurt or not.

 

Yeah, if you see 4,392 pieces of 324 different kinds of mixed product - it might be best to hire professionals and take a nap LoL... Talk about FUN!!! Yep. Nothing says fun like 24 pallets into 240. Of course that will also be the load where you had to slam on the brakes somewhere and one or two pallets fell over.

Too bad you had to go to AL. I'm making a paperwork run to the Petro this afternoon. I keep telling John the people watching is better at the Pilot across town but he ain't buyin it. I think the worst truck stops ever thread ruined the surprise.

Then the warehouse comes to their defense saying the loaf has to be unloaded, broken down and done on 2hours. Try that with a hand jack and no idea of what needs to be broken down. Sounds like lumpers are doing warehouse employee:s job for load out to me but if the brokers continue to pay $800 for this foolish then so be iy . They sure don't want my opinion on it anymore. The lumper fees are higher than the freight rate.

 

I just recently went through this with Publix of Dacula, Ga. They went withing 10 dollars of breaking me when it was done. I cannot believe that these people can give you a price after the work is done!!!! I refuse to go back to that place.
