so i've been to alot of research on driving ad seems like alot of companies require a hs diploma or ged and since i dont have one my though is to take an online class and get my hs diploma in a few weeks vs my ged that would take a month or two maybe more
so the big question is you think any company would care where i got it at so long as i had one?

Just make certain the entity issuing your diploma is accredited by the US Department of Education OR the Distance Education and Training Council, otherwise the diploma is worthless and not worth the paper it's printed on. There are many online programs and diploma mills that are worthless. Look for your online school's accreditation and CONFIRM it with either of the above two agencies. Good luck.

No one ever checks to see if you graduated from High School. NO ONE. There is no reason to get a degree for anyone other then yourself. A GED is nothing but a test. Period. If you can fill out a job application you know all you need to know to get a job. Where it asks about High School say yes and list a school.

What you need to do is LEARN. That process never stops. If you plan on getting a GED and then you think you can stop learning you are quite wrong. Every day learn something new. Which one of the two choices do you think is best for the learning process? That is the one you should seek.

I don't have a diploma or GED and the only Job that ever checked or required it was when I applied to the State of FL for a job driving a laundry truck.

you are very smart to consider this possible problem before it comes down to a job offer etc.... i just hired on with a power co. (not for trucking) and they did a full background check with verification of employment, education, credit check, criminal background, etc.... get your ducks in a row before you get there... any lies on a background check will result in termination or a withdraw of employment offer.... good luck.

ps... do the GED first. it says HS diploma or GED.....Geds are easier to get and you can go for the HS diploma after you get where your going.

Go with your gut instinct and get the diploma or GED, whichever you prefer. You're correct, some of the better paying companies do ask if you have a high school diploma or GED and nearly all of the "white-glove" companies ask for it. Just off the top of my head, UPS, Federal Express, Publix, USPS, just to name a few, each ask this question.

While some companies don't check, it's better to have it than to get blindsided by a company asking for it. Any company requiring a TWIC card (and maybe a passport, can't remember) will ask (it may even be a requirement that the company asks but don't quote me on this) and most companies employ HireRight, (used more and more by trucking companies for background checks on applicants) which checks MVR and criminal records, as well as educational backgrounds. I notice you're a student. Depending on where you attend CDL school, the school may require it as well. My local tech college requires one or the other (diploma or GED) for CDL school, and the PTDI-approved schools also require it.
