11-10-2012 i can answer these ? about a week ago i got a call from north south i had sent them a short job app. weeks ago, they told me they wanted to hire my truck on. ask me to take a drug test. i told them i did not know enough about there company to know if i wanted to work for them and ask how much they pay, were they run and the normal ? you would ask. the girl said she was by her self and very busy gave me some quick short answers and said go drug test and everything would be explained at orientation. it seemed kinda strange to spend for test. what if i didnt go to work for them? it would be waist of $. when i got to orientation 8:am the girl that was recruiter was very nice but didnt really know how the rest of the operation was run. the other girl was very busy and obviously didnt have time to answer ? she gave me a app and contract to fill out i started asking ? even tho i had to keep her from what she was doing. she couldnt really tell me much about pay. but she told me that it would be almost 3 weeks before i would get a check, they would not give any cash advance to run on. even if you had money on the books, then said i had to pull fuel money out of my pocket for the first 7 days some point they would give me a fuel card to use but to avoid escrow it would be best for me to buy fuel out of pocket. they gave me a paper that said no riders in my truck. i told them that wouldn't work my wife has traveled with me for many years and i would not work for anyone that had no rider restriction she told me not to worrier about it. i asked about license plate they wanted $200 up front and $60 per week for plates. at the time i didnt catch that it was for 52 weeks
by now im sceptically the guy that run the place came in talked for a while told me he was paying $2,000 a week after expense home on weekends short runs sound like what im looking for. sometime the dumbest things can end up working. i thought i give it a try finished the paper work. they wanted 70-30 split i keep all fsc i thought i give it a try went home. got a call asked if i would run a load from dallas to houston and said the dispatcher would call
we were talking about the days events and having serious second thoughts about the whole thing. by the time the dispatcher called it was dark he said load pick up at 8pm. and i would have to buy my own fuel. did not know how much the load paid or how much fsc was. gave me wrong phone numbers for customer. buy the time i was able to get in contact the costumer they said load would not be ready untill 1:am had to be delivered by 7:am called dispatcher told him i started orientation at 8:am there was no way this was going to happen and i was not interested in doing any work for them.
............................now the reason iv told this long boring story
the next morning i check the messages on phone. the owner of north south left message that i had stolen his plate and decals and he was going to call the dot and tell them i was running other company,s freight on his plates and permits and i owed for a $180 drug test $360 for orientation administration fee, there is another $250 for something fee. then another message telling me to put plates and paper work in mail. so i went to post office and certified everything to him. so the guy gets my job app. out and starts calling my personal references (brother friends) x employers telling them that i was a theif and stoled his stuff.demanding they tell him were to find me. and he has the sheriff looking for me for steeling his plates.
so because i wont work for bottom feeder company they say i owe $790 and im wanted criminal lol lol
    my advice:
iv been trucking for 30 years there is nothing this clown can do to me. i also have 30 years of connections and friends in the industry.
if you are younger or new to the industery and dont have as much experience. a guy like this can ruin your trucking career. after checking this guy out im sure this is not the first time he has done this type of thing.
take it from an old hand that has been around for a while (stay clear of theses guys.)
ther is a lot of good company's out there

    BWS you are so right!

It is too late for us....we signed up with North and South as an o/o and ROD f...... us good. We ran several loads and we never were paid at all. He claimed we were upside down on our settlements. This guy is a scam and needs to be stopped! He said he was going to shot my driver and texted all sort of crazy messages. He is the theif. Please don't work for him cuz he not going to pay. He promises all this stuff and you get nothing. He has filed banruptcy before and this is not his first time around the block on screwing folks. They running a big time scam, I got connections and know people at some of the places they getting their contracts from and plan to let them know they need to drop these losers.

So I think it is boarder line criminal at what some of these companies pay drivers or the massive percentages that they take. But it is all legal. Then you read this stuff and you have wonder how someone can get away with illegal activity like this.

    SHC Thanks this.

I was a O/O leased on to north and south for almost a year. I saw Ron Larson screw several drivers over by holding checks , over fuel cards and anything else he could. He will not give your last check any sooner than 45 days after paperwork is turned in. It took me almost 3 months to get my last check and that was after calling him telling him i was on my way to dallas to rip his head off. I highly recommend everyone stay as far away from him as you can. His brother Scott owns JMS trans. in norway,ia and from what i have seen is nothing like Rod. If you do brave this warning DO NOT try his lease purchase program , I saw a young lady run her self into the ground for three weeks and come out with a check for $13.00 (thirteen dollars) Call Jan in norway and ask her !

I can agree with the other posts on here. STAY AWAY AS FAR AS YOU CAN FROM NORTH AND SOUTH EXPRESS. You will go broke over here. I just left after 90 days
