Went to bad last night with fuel at the in town independent at $4.45 and just now the same station is $4.85. WTF! The news says it is due to a volatile market and a power outage at a refinery in Torrence. Since California only sells specific formula fuels the owners can not but from out of state to fill the gap, thus we get screwed again.
How do O/O & L/O offset these high prices or do you just not fuel in California?
How about those California fuel prices

if you dont go to cali, you dont have to fuel in cali
cali, oregon, colorado, and washington are all on my "do not enter" states specifically for their punitive attitude towards truck drivers
oregon and washington just did a joint harassment on drivers a few months ago, going way beyond the call of duty
taxes, tolls and traffic is one headache i have learned to deal with
overzealous DOT enforcement is akin to nothing short of gestapo tactics on generally honest men trying to provide for their families
as far as the cali cost for fuel, it is inline with other typical cali approach to drivers and the public, "screw'em as much as they will accept"volvodriver01 and 48Packard Thank this. -
CA is so far out of touch with reality it's no longer funny. Not even so much the general population, but the government clowns for certain.volvodriver01, Cobra67y20, SurfingTrucker and 2 others Thank this.

Why is Colorado a bad place to fuel? I usually top off at the Pilot in Denver.

i was reading somewhere about a year ago, colorado is proud of its "aggressive enforcement of HOS and other rules governing big trucks"
i remember i went across the scales on 25 coming out of new mexico, the DOT cop was standing outside in a snowstorm with a creeper
he told me then that this was a new colorado, i have been reading and hearing horror stories about them for years
i will stay near the east coast madness -
Being that I live here, I agree. The weather alone is not a good enough reason to stay any longer.

You mention Colorado. I watched up go up .13/gal overnight, and that is at the terminal here. The peelot is right now is $4.13 and the terminal is $4.25. Thursday the Peelot was $4.05. As far as Cali, I will top off there if heading out east on I-10, due to taxes.

I bought 100 gallons at the Santa Nella Loves Friday afternoon. Price that morning was $4.149. I put in 100 gallons, $415.00. As I drive away I notice the price on the markee was $4.259 and $4.279 across the street at the TA. I'm guessing they either hadn't gotten around to switching the price on the pump or I got REALLY lucky.
From the looks of things I timed things just right. Was $4.10 in Fontana Thursday when I got 60 gallons and $4.23 on Friday. $4.26 in Lathrop which is why I waited til I was back in Santa Nella.Last edited: Oct 6, 2012

Steve, you would have been better off topping your tanks that day in Fontana. Taxes.
