After a few false starts, the hubby and I found a home with KLLM.
6 weeks of training, seems to be just right.
$400/ wk in training for those curious.
then, .36 cpm right away. All miles.

Michael's trainer is a lease driver, and after 6 wks of discussion, we decided to go that route as well.
and only 3 pay checks in, but not disappointed at all!

First week was only 4 days of driving due to the way payroll cut off is.
    still managed 3200 miles.
Week 2 just over 5300 miles
Week 3 had not 1, but 2 resets from waiting around...
still had 4400 miles. = $2203 after all deductions.

During training we had a couple of 6000+ weeks, so we know what
a good week and slow week looks like.

Plus the company is small and friendly. Everyone has been great,
recruiting, safety, training, logs, permits.. I love the whole Jackson terminal

Look them up, lowest turn over rate and best CSA scores of all the companies I've looked at.

WOW that sounds good. My wife and I are thinking of doing the same. Please tell us more. My wife would like to know how you feel about the truck stops and taking showers there? And have you any ideas about cooking on the road?

Lots of hubby/wife teams around, so truck stops are happy to give an extra ttowel to ya. (Yes, they provide towels so you don't have a wet one smelling up yoour truck)
I prefer the TA and Petros because they're usually big enough for the both of us to shower together.

You can get a little fridge and hot plate or icrowave, but how much time do you really plan on stoppingg every day to cook?
I have a fridge full of lunch meats and yogurt and fruit. And my cabinet turned into pantry has all my V8 cans, protein bars, and cereal. Pretty much all I need.
You will have to get used to sleeping while she is driving and vice versa.
And sex in the cab can get creative. Just wait until the shipper/ receiver is loading/unloading because the truck will already be bouncing a bit ^_^ no one will notice. (There are curtains you can close around the windshield and windows)

ummm yea i hope you guys dont use those towles on your body....they use those same towles to clean the shower rooms/bathrooms....they wipe the toilets down with them too lol. Those should ONLY be used for floor mats so when you step out of the shower you dont have to touch the nasty floor.

I'm hoping for the best for them. But I would like to encourage them to not be blinded by the initial glare of the diamond. The business can turn on ya quick, and you have to be ready. Keep your ears open, keep absorbing information (good and bad), and keep a good attitude.

I too will be anxiously awaiting updates.

And why would it go south?
just because I'm new and not jaded?

Sorry I would post more, but I've been busy making money.

Took some home time and ran a 3 day week.. still made $800 net.
Then last week we busted our ##### and took home $4200.

Putting $$$ in savings for tax time :'(

And we have broken down, in Odessa. Most expensive boring place I've ever been.
    #### still under warranty though ;)

And we have gotten a few loads we didn't want that stuck us somewhere for 12the hrs waiting on the next load. #### happens. But I've got my best friend in the world with me toenjoy naked cuddle time with, so I'm not butt hurt about it.
make the best of it, right?

    And the towel issue..
At home I've cleaned kids vomit and cat poop and all kinds of stuff with towels.
this new miracle invention called bleach and hot ####### water came out recently.
    it works pretty good.

Yeah bleach is a wonderful thing.

Here's the kicker.... Truckstops don't use it.
