There are some people in the thread talking about how sometimes they take it real easy and take their time getting a load done. Can you really do that when you're working for a big company? I thought they would be pretty strict about how long a load should take.
How much time do you have to get your load to its destination?

We (team) drive for a megacarrier. I route everything at 50 mph and have not had one complaint in nearly two years. This easily allows for fuel, showers and the occasional nap

How much extra time on average are drivers given by the company from pick-up to delivery per trip? I always thought it was assumed a driver would drive 11 hours every single day.

Some of them give you too much time. So you can take it easy depending on the load you get. Are you can hurry up and get there and try to get it off. Some customers will take it off, and some won't. If you are delivering to a Wal-mart or Costco. You might have to stick with your appt. Other places might take you early. Just depends on the load, and the receiver. As a Rookie I would always do my best to go straight there, because you never know when you might blow a tire or have mechanical issues with the truck. I still pretty much still do it all these years later and now with E logs if there is parking you don't have to worry about starting your 14hr clock. I currently sit at the Costco in Atlanta. I have a 6am apt tomorrow. I got here at about 3pm. There's a bunch of trucks sitting on the side of the road as well waiting to get in tmrw. Wish I would of stopped to get a bit to eat. But oh well my scale is not going to mind if I miss a few meals.

Driving 11 hours a day normally happens on a coast to coast load. Or maybe a 14 or 1500 mile load and then the last day you are only going to drive a few hundred miles. Also if you have E logs you sometimes stop b4 the 11 so you don't have to sit on the side of the road somewhere or go over your hours to get to a safe place to park. Last night I had 30 mins left when I parked.

This is my last few days. I was trying to do a reset but load was ready early. So I took it and scaled it out and was 800 over gross so took it back and messed up my reset

You run em' pretty tight with refer freight, especially produce. If you don't like driving through the nite, or midnite appts, ya better pull a dry van or skateboard.

I run refer and those are my hours. Fun thing about refer freight is some of the places are first come first serve. So you get there early even though your apt is later and you are outer there sooner. Doesn't work all the time though.
