Thank ya. I've heard some other companies do the team thing while training so just making sure.
-
Indeed. I had a trainer try to pull that. He has a million mile sticker on his truck, only five years in. HA. He was also so full of himself.
I have a friend that recently worked for gordon. Might know more. So I can ask and get back in here later. -
No rush. I have some things to take care of before I head to school so it'll be about a year or so. Just getting a idea of some companies that I might be interested in. Thanks

Depends on experience. @ 2.5 (verifyable) years they have me at 33/mile (practical).

my husband and i went through training recently. you drive trainer sits in cab to train you.no teaming. it last 28 days for newbies

Just to be clear, I do not recommend GTI heavy haul division. The fleet has major shortcommings. Miles are lowish (350-450), spd limited to 60, but with extra weight, mountains and traffic you'll average 48. They hav been bouncing me in/out of Seattle and Portland; both have a traffic jam if someone sneezes. The HH trucks are small cabins without APU's. Live unload vs drop/hook is 50%. The kicker is that GTI doesn't do a sliding pay scale for short runs and doesn't pay HH drivers extra for driving heavy. Embarassing to say, but I made more money driving HH with Swift.

The only positive I've seen for this fleet is that you are home for 34 more often than not. GTI really needs to fix this fleet.
This isn't to slam the company. As a company they are pretty good. This is just their weak spot. Go western 11, reefer etc and you'll probably do very well. I'm transfering out of HH asap. -
More fun and games.... got a preplan last night Halsey Or, to Coer D Alene ID (I can never spell that city right). I'm in Clackamas about to shut down for 10 on wenesday night. It delivers on Friday am. So I get up Thursday morning, hunt down a trailer and start rollling (starting the 14hr clock).. then get a message that someone else is bringing it to clackamas.... This takes 170 miles off the run, eats 3 hrs off my 14, and takes $60 out of my check. Now I have 24 hrs committed to a $125 load.
GTI is starting to look really bad. Oh and that IS a slam on the company...Last edited: Oct 4, 2012

Finally!! After all the debacles from the office, home for a long reset. I did still manage a 2700 mile week, but it was a fight to get the miles. I'll be moving out of HH into the temp control fleet, so longer miles between docks. They say they have a new truck for me; 2012 with APU, invertor and full sized cabin. I hope that it's true. Heck, brewing my own coffee would save me $30 a week...

Sorry for the earlier rants, but the HH planners seem to screw up on a regular basis. -
I am currently teaming on TC fleet and I love it. Getting great miles. Good luck out there driver.
