Tough Career Decision: Need Exp Trucker Advice

    I would go with the RR as well. Don't let your age dictate anything. If your idea of seeing the country through a windshield is ok, I would think the RR would beat driving a truck in terms of scenery (or at least be equal). The restaurant thing seems like that's your true calling/passion, and I believe working the RR would give you more time, money, and better benefits (retirement for sure) to pursue your dream. Im not saying trucking is bad,or cant pay well-it can be a very rewarding career for the right person. You have RR ties already through family. That unique asset can really take you far in terms of knowledge, and what to expect, and how to succeed in that trade.

    Ugh, well thanks everyone for your responses....The thing is the RR gig wouldn't be until after the New Year so I have time to ponder, and decide.....It's definitely a tough decision, and I kind of hate being in limbo not knowing what I will be doing in the future....

    maybe I just should have made a poll, and gone with the popular choice, lol...just kidding....

    Any more input here is welcomed as I still have much thinking to do......

    And yes, I know the restaurant business can be risky...My ex-gf and I sank all of our savings into a mobile food trailer only to be run out of town by a city council after only 2 and 1/2 weeks in business.....

    well my dad seems to think there would be better benefits/retirement if I went with the RR.....Geeez, I dunno....hard choice....it might sound weird but I think I like the trucking lifestyle more at this point in my life over a "normal" lifestyle....

    maybe i wil add up all the pros and cons of the two jobs, and assign values to each - may be something like 1 to 10.....then add it up, and see which is better for me.....

    I thought life was supposed to be full of easy choices or something lol
