There's a fuse in most of those plugins as well. They go out frequently. Unscrew the tip and and make sure it is good. I'd also recommend the next amp up on the fuse.

I keep the Coleman in the passenger seat. I also have a skinny koolatron that I keep on the floor right next to the passenger seat. I keep my drinks, water, pop, etc, in that one.

yeah i've seen tons of people with coolers and i think even fridges on their passenger seats. I wanted to still be able to buy frozen stuff but i dont think I'll be able to in one of those coolers

Bought an Igloo model from a TA for $110, for the 3 months I've had it, keeps things very cold and has a ton of space (40ish QT). Rugged, thick plastic and silent.

I'm on my second Coleman in about a year and 3 months. The first one melted the plug and then didn't seem to cool right. They replaced the whole thing under warranty.
After a few months on the second one, it started to do the same thing, so I replaced they plug with a pre wired heavy duty plug you find at the ts , spliced the wires and it worked great for several months until a coworker yanked the wires apart and I did a quick fix on the wires. It was heating up again and not cooling right in two days. I guess the plug is the weak point. New hd plug spliced right and keeping it plugged into the tv/fridge outlet ( oh yeah, and the one step bigger fuse someone mentioned) have worked pretty good here.
(forgot to mention, tried 2 cheap replacement plugs.. one melted in a day or so, the other about as long and the blew the truck fuse, it's worth the extra buck or so for the heavier duty one)Last edited: Oct 9, 2012
