I used up all of my 14 today, but didn't drive much, so still have about 7.5hrs of drive time left.......the way my log person explained it to me, I can split like this...
8hr sleeper, then drive for my 7 hrs, then break for 2hrs, and I will get my full 11 back.......Is this right?
I am at the Ohio Welcome Center on the west side and will be going south out of Dayton on 35, then south out of Charleston on 64/77 and going almost to Charlotte, NC, and I know it's going to be rough. I have a 500 mile run and deliver at 0430 on the 11th........................I really don't want to split, but it's the only way I can think of to get there in time (I was held up at the shipper for 4hrs because they had to rework the load)
Please help with this split break problem

You will get back what's left of the 11 after your '2'.
So should be 4. -
No, it's not right.
If you drove for 7 after an 8 hour break then take 2, that only gives you 4 until you get back 8 more to recover your 7.

OK....so it's better to just take my 10 now, drive as far as I can tomorrow, and be late on delivery?......Dispatch knows that I had to scale, rescale, slide, rework, and scale again to just barely get this thing legal.

your on paper? elog will show you what you get back after 8 hours
or at least mine will
guess it matters how many hours you need to get to reciever -
Just take your 10 and make them change delivery time, that is if the load isnt a hot load. I never split and only did it once because im local and it got me home. Splits are very easy to mess up if you dont know what your doing.
TruckerSue Thanks this. -
My elogs show me having about 7.5hrs of drive time and being out of my 14.....I was told "Get up after 8hrs and see what the logs say about how much time you have to drive"...............well...............I don't want to get up then, see I have 7.5 hrs to drive and then after taking a 2hr break finding out I don't have enough time to get the my delivery..................I WANT TO KNOW NOW!!!!!!!.....LOL

Been doing some reading......I'm going to take my full 10 tonight and let my dispatcher know in the morning that this load is probably going to be late.....If it weren't for the roads I'm taking with all the hills (am almost grossed out) I could easily do the 500 miles.

I agree take your full 10. I never split log but that's just me. Contact dispatch and get them to reset the appointment. Better to cover your own arse!!!!!

Take your 10.. They will relay load if need be.. Always run legal or you will be the one in trouble .. Just be sure to send open message on Qualcomm and tell them it might be an issue for onetime delivery.. Do this and go to bed
