Hi everyone. I'm not currently a truck driver but I drove buses otr for 10 years. Same question I would ask with a bus or truck driver. If the guy had immediately stopped called dispatch and said I just scraped a trailer and began following accident procedures would he be fired right now? Just driving away is the worst thing you can do if you even think you had an accident or someone says you had an accident stop everything and call it in. Get documentation that you did your job. Second to that as another poster said there is no substitute for G.O.A.L.

No, he would have been charged with a preventable accident tho
-
Yea preventable and most likely on a 6 months probation period.

There's nothing wrong with making a mistake. It's how you handle it. Good job

Especially nowadays, seems like everyone and there brothers ( and sisters ) has a camera on anymore. So, somebody somewhere is watching!

This is very true Joker but he would still probably be employed is the point I'm trying to make. As crptgnt said as well almost everywhere whether good or bad has cameras and lookyloos love to make phone calls. Ya gotta CYA.

It would be a preventable accident and also go on his DAC report, but that would have been better than being fired.
