Where is it? Maybe spring thaw restrictions? Though February would be a bit early.
-
Definitely spring thaw restrictions, but what state? WI doesn't usually start that early.
-
Never heard of 10 ton weight limit what is that all about?
-
10 ton roads mean 10 ton axle loads. Same with a 73,280 or 9 ton road.
In Minnesota and ND, you'll see even 5 and 7 ton restricted roads. In a rare case, even a 3 ton. It all depends on the thaw cycle.Cobra67y20 Thanks this. -
During the spring thaw the northern states will enact weight restrictions on certain highways to keep the truck traffic off them when the soil underneath is at it's weakest and softest to protect the roads. There are a couple of roads near where we live where that is done.

Forgot to add that it is usually county highways this is done with.

Illinois, farmland type paved road.
But I would not assume a ten ton limit was referring to "each axle". I would read it as Ten tons is Ten tons, period!

If it says "10 ton" it means 10 TON.
If it says "10 Ton Axle" it means up to 10 ton per axle. That can be a fully loaded 80,000 truck.
