I finished Road Training in Columbus Tuesday and was all set to test yesterday morning.
It was a good thing too. I was broke and out of time. Three days of orientation and I'd finally be getting a little advance and ready to hit the road with my mentor.
So, I show up at the test center with my road trainer early Wednesday morning. A little nervous, but ready and confident I'd pass.
Then a funny thing happened. The testing center had no idea who I was and no way to fit me in.
It seems Millington had dropped the ball and failed to confirm my appointment. Not only that but they were booked for the next 9 days straight!!!
So, here I'am...at home...AGAIN, waiting to test on the 24th.
    This is ridiculous....:biggrin_25510:

Who screwed up, the trucking company or the state?

Swift screwed up. The whole fiasco started before I left Millington.
I was told to set up and pay for my third party testing. I needed to make it for any day after the 28th of September.
So, I did and it ended up being Oct. 1st..the day I arrived in Columbus for Road training.
I told Swift about this and I was told the date didn't matter. They just needed to get me in the system so that they could adjust it to fit the end of my training. Well, when I got to Columbus they hadn't bothered to change the date so my road trainer was told (by Swift) to just bring me in on the 10th and they'd fit me in...yeah right. Nobody bothered to ask the testers. Millington just assumed it wouldn't be a problem.

You're kind of stuck between a rock & a hard place.
If that were me, I would try to pretend patience, qualify & get 6 mos. experience with Swift, then start looking elsewhere. Lots of companies will hire you with 6 mos. OTR experience. Of course that could be a problem is you owe Swift money for training. Just one example (I'm not a recruiter for any company), but drive4marten.com hires with 6 months experience, by reading their website. Well, that's what I would do. Start looking early and making plans and by all means give a 2 week notice once another company accepts you. Wish I could offer more help.
