Discounting the ability to get free apps there are many benefits to it. Basically jail breaking allows you to install 3rd party apps not approved by apple. Basically if there is an app that is really good, but if apple has an app that is similar they will not approve it because it does not want the competition. Also it gives you the ability to have more control of your phone. In ios 5 and below FaceTime only worked over wifi. Jailbreak and install a small tweak and you have FaceTime over 3G.

There are tons of examples I could give, but the point is you can do much more with your phone. There is a risk of getting a virus, or messing your phone up by downloading bad software. If this happens it's as simple as plugging your phone into iTunes and clicking restore. Back to original.

I would recommend doing a bit of google work to really read the advantages and process. It really couldn't be easier.

I guess I just don't need or use a whole lot of apps and with the iPhone 5 you can do face time without wifi. Lol but I really have no need to use the face time anyway.

It's not just the iPhone 5. The 4 and 4s will be able to do it with the iOS 6 update. That's I mentioned ios 5 and below. Some people really dont need to jailbreak. Like, if yourself, they do not use many apps, don't care or want to have more control of their phone and are happy the way it is. More power to you. Personally I'm a tech geek so I have to be able to poke and prod at the innards of my device.

But it is nice to customize the phone. All Iphones look pretty much the same, otherwise.

And, I have faster access to apps and internal functions with a jailbroken phone.

One swipe allows me to turn on/off Blue Tooth, Data, Wifi, Location Services, 3G, and a host of other features. Without digging through menus.

I'm like Roster. I want to be able to dig around inside, and play with the internals and customize them to my taste/personality.

But there are millions of people out there, that simply want it to work. And that's okay too.
