PSU, if you find you aren't learning something out here, park the truck amd turn in the keys
Or so a wise trainer told us.
Central is a good place to learn, provided you use all of the tools provided. We were there almost 2 years. We still learn daily. You will have good days and bad days (I mean days you couldn't seem to back up if you had a football field and both teams directing you). You give up a lot (Lady K and I have thought of all the normalcies you give up), but as has been said, if you can wake up in a rolling closet, choose to see the beauty we see beyond the pee bottles, and are making enough to make it worthwhile, then keep it up. If you don't like the situation, identify what the root of the problem is and change it. For many people who have been on here a while it may have been lack of income, lack of time with their family, or some other reason. Are we all with central still, no. Do all that leave hate it, no. As I said, without Central we wouldn't be where we are, able to homeschool our daughter, and would not have met the people we have. Even in the darkest day anywhere, I have to find a silver lining around that dark cloud or I will go nuts, so take what I say with that in mind.PSUMoose, Arkansas Frost and Diner Man Thank this. -
Well said - Thanks.

Thanks I agree, you never stop learning.
Your funny pee bottles and footbal
Thanks for keeping it positive.
I like to say that the worst day on the truck is still better than the best day in the cubiclemama mia and Arkansas Frost Thank this. -
Thanks for pointing that out. Yes the money is in my own account not centrals. I do put abit in the central account to cover oil changes and what not, but the rest of the money goes to a business account at my bank then 25% goes into the maintenance account and the rest goes into a general account. I then pay myself $1000/week. It works for me and I have a "steady" income.mama mia Thanks this.

Though I know and understand that this lifestyle will have a different effect on different people...I do know how days can be in gopher-land world (cubicles) and so I do look forward to the days ahead. Thanks to ALL for both good and bad comments...how are we to judge and evaluate if we only hear things one-sided.

I had driving experience prior to going to centrals school and they do have good quality instructors except for the one that posted on here i think he went by rookie trainer. With that said it is a fast pace course so be on your toes and get a CDL book from your dmv and study before hand it will help you out for the class room portion. also spend some of your free time after you pass the classroom portion and go over and over the pre trip until you got it down pat.

There training is enough to get your CDL but dosent really start till you get into a trainers truck. There's so much to learn and lots of time to learn. If your a light sleeper good because you need to a part of everything the truck dose. Central has some good trainers that will teach you the basics but it goes way beyond that. I never had a GPS a map book told the truth always taught my students to be consistent in everything they did as its done the same way every time. If you have a laptop and Internet Central sells a scanner for your paperwork well worth the $100.00 and you always have the original a computer will also let you check your pay to make sure all trips were paid. It's a fun job the best part is finding good places to eat it dosent always have to be fast food plus I'm a coffee nut Starbucks type. Life can and will be hard but it's ok tomarrow will be better.
best of luck -
6pak, I wish I could have had you as a trainer. Your a old schoolguy that takes pride in teaching your student the ends and outs of trucking more than just making money. I can only hope to get a good trainer to show me the ins and outs.
mama mia Thanks this. -
6pack, they now have a Starbucks in Salina KS. I thought of you when they opened it. The Iowa 80 group is opening a coffee shop in each of their locations similar to Starbucks, but the coffee isn't as strong. Did you try the blonde coffee this summer?
