I need to know what the current rates are for cross country and back. Nj to Vegas and then back to Nj. Dry van sit four days in Vegas. I have done this kind of work before. I have a rate of 12,750$. That is what I did it for years ago and since the current rates are garbage I just need to know if this holds up or are guys getting more. I'm not locked in at 12,750 I can go higher but only if I feel it's nessacary.
I would like input from some o/o that have done these kind of runs before. It's been about 10 yrs since my last west coast run.
Need help rating Nj to Vegas and back

Unless there are some special circumstances such as dedicated equipment or specialized equipment I dont think you will see that rate again. There are too many big companies that will run it for a buck a mile and be happy. Way too many people that will do it for nothing and go bankrupt, but than the rest of the working world is stuck with the rates that they have quoted. A shipper is quick to accept a cheap rate and drop the rate on a particular move, but you will play hell getting them to raise a rate once it has been lowered.
Rates seem to be coming up a bit since capacity has tightened up some, but still not where they were 3-4 yrs ago. -
Sounds like you're hauling to SEMA and back. If you are, you should be able to get a good rate since they are committing the truck and your idle days are their cost as well.

I don't know what SEMA is? But thank you for the input it seems like my rate is good. I have done lots of work for this shipper. Like I said it has been 10 yrs. Since doing a Vegas run for him. So he pulled my last invoice and asked if that rate of 12750$ still holds up. Judging from what you guys are telling me, sounds like my rate from 10 yrs ago has stood the test of time. Shows how bad the rates are today. Now I just have to find two other trucks for the other two loads.
If your right and companies will do it for a buck a mile, then I'm gonna kill it when I broker the other two loads.
Thanks for your help,
