If I can get 40-45 I would be a happy driver. Averitts benefits are not through the roof like some carriers so you have to take into consideration at the end of the year.

Mustang GT if you want to PM your info I will put it on my ap for you to get a referral bonus too.

MustangGT I got your PM. I don't have enough posts on the board yet to send you a PM back but I am working on that, thank you.

10-4 It won't take you long.
Just realized I haven't been to the terminal in your area. I have been to the one in Burbank. And to the one in Elk Grove Village which I hear has been closed down and replaced but I never made it to the new one.

Sour Dough, I am very glad that Mustang was able to answer your questions. When I get home for the weekend I shut down my computer and don't even think about this thread. LOL I have to get my family time in.

Some questions about 1st year of pay. My recruiter told me 38 to 42K my first year. I am on pace to knock down 41 so she was being truthful. Little things like not whining about loads or where they send you, etc will endear you to your FM and since I am faithful to pick up and deliver on time I get my share of "can you do me a favor" loads that have just enough time to get there. I have even had to ask my FM to please find me something that has some extra time on it so I can take it easy.

I left out at 1700 today to get to my customer in Tuscaloosa AL so I'd have a fresh clock for Monday morning. I am tucked away in a drop lot at the customer. Otherwise I would have had to leave out about 3 AM and it just makes more sense to get here and be ready to roll in the morning.

Thanks for the nice comments about the thread. I am pleased it is helping drivers who are curious about the company. I have 10 months in now and I am still very happy.

When I looked at positions for my area they have positions in Burbank which must the SC you have been to and then one in Franklin Park. The Franklin Park SC must be the new one. I will try to get out of the one in Morton. It is about 1.5 hour drive for me. Do you think a 1.5 hr drive one way is going to be much with how the home time works at Averitt. What are your weekends typically like. I used to get in Saturday and leave out Sunday evening. I would sometimes get those weekends where you have all day Sat and Sun and you pulled in on Friday and I always appreciated those weekends.

You are welcome Big Mike and I totally understand staying off the PC while at home.

I can appreciate leaving early on Sunday. I used to always try and head out early myself. I always thought it was better to leave at 5pm and than wake the house up at 3am.

Have safe week Big Mike and again thanks for keeping us wanna be's updated.

Just depends on how you end up at the end of the week. This week I dropped a load at a yard 122 miles from mine and they brought me home empty Friday night. I am on call for Monday morning and they will send me to load somewhere close by to start my week off.

But usually they try to send you home with a load that you will deliver Monday. There are times when you could roll in Saturday and leave Sunday evening but almost always get 34 off.

The good part is that you will never be left sitting at the end of the week. If you don't have a load they will send you home regardless.

I must say, I do like their service centers. The service centers (terminals) are great for fueling at (rarely have to wait), scales on site at many (although they can be off when compaired to certified CAT scales, but will get you in the ballpark), most with showers and generally safe to park at for your break. I really don't mind the uniforms myself, I just don't like wearing bright colors but that is really just a quirk of mine and not a problem with the company. I agree that it does look more professional, however. On the up side, the Cintas clothing is fairly well made, has some varieties in styles you can wear (but not color) and are relatively cheap to order through the company. I ordered some spiffy new 'no-tuck' style shirts that should be in Tuesday.

In Jan you will get a $150 credit on your Cintas account to order what you want. I have been getting a new pair of shoes every year and even get my socks there too.

And even some of the older, smaller yards like Augusta and Tifton are getting new showers now.

I spoke too soon. Just got called for a load to Plainfield IL. That's about 850 from here. Gets me off to a good start. Not looking forward to the cold but will have to get in it sooner or later.
