Hello ya'll I was looking to upgrade my cobra 29 LTD (with a wilson 5k antenna) to a galaxy DX595. Would the galaxy be a better upgrade performance wise?

Do you mean the 959??? Don't see a 595 on the web site. If so, you gain SSB and more features, but it won't necessarily talk any better than the Cobra 29 LTD.Big_m Thanks this.

i would say that is a step in the right direction. the 959 is not that expansive so it wont hurt the wallet too bad. the beauty about the 959 is how easy you can add channels to the radio. search for the viagra kit on ebay. there has to be a small crystal change on the radio board, have a tech realign the channels, and the channel kit itself just plugs right to the radio.

I would just get a radio with the channels all ready installed. Like a RCI-2950.

Yeah sorry it was the 959. I would love to put a ranger 10 meter radio but I do not have a HAM amateur radio license lol.

I found a Galaxy 959 with the MOSFET mod in it. It should be at my door next week hopefully

Good deal nice radio I am sure you will be happy .

I agree, or a Galaxy 88 or 99. I will never do a channel kit again although I still have a Cobra 25 with the lower channel kit in it. Just get a radio that is ready to go and be done with it.Big_m Thanks this.

Congrats.. Some day when theres a lot of chatter and noise on the radio.. Turn that galaxy to channel 38 and flip the switch to lsb and make people sound like chipmunks or satin lol
