Depends. If owner op. most of the times yes.
Most companies will make their drivers take the ld. given them, unless you are one that bumps your head under somebodies desk..
I still have a full head of hair...:biggrin_2558:

The way it sort of works for the most part (forced dispatch) is that there is a pool of available loads and a pool of trucks in an area. As drivers come available (empty) and depending on the load appointments, drivers available hours to deliver loads, their home time requirements etc or if applicable drivers who refuse loads (duh). the loads are dispatched to the trucks on that basis on a first empty first served. The best thing that drivers can do is take whatever comes to them and run with it.

it all depends no one can give a straight response to this. its different with every company. some are forced dispatch some you can refuse a load as a company driver. now as a o/o you can always so no but might lose your job. than if you get your own truck trailer and authority or lease with a company that lets you find your own frieght than its a whole new world. in that world you have to look at what a load pays how many miles empty and loaded what its going to cost you to run it and so on and so on. you look at many different load boards and keep calling and working out a final price and take a load.

Well yes and no you can refuse a load with reason, otherwise you take what you get. If you own your own truck you can usually find a way out of a load you do not want like something to be checked on your truck first.

Or if you are in the foodservice part, you usually have a regular run. same customers 2 to 3 three times a week. Lot of variables to be considered in your question...but it is a good one to ask, may help you decide which type of trucking you want to do after your experience level goes up affording you some different choices.
