i agree with a lot of what you said here. however, from what i saw and experienced success at ffe depended on the driver/student as well as who they got as a dm. out of my class of 25 ( i think) there are 5 left @ ffe. out of those, only one is getting a ton of miles. out of those that left, 5 that i know of are with other companies and are doing well and getting miles. so at least for those 5, maybe it wasn't driver/student willingness or lack of trying or expecting to much.

ffe is a starter company. and your right in that they expect people to quit/leave/walk, what ever you want to call it. just that since their school has been slammed they wont be getting that body count of newbies every week anymore. they are going to seriously have to rethink the way they handle drivers. suddenly the train of thought of well we lost 20 drivers this week no big deal won't work.

i was a cheerleader for ffe, and in a way i still am for the ACADEMY. it was top notch. i left for reasons i won't go into on a public board, pm me and i'll send ya my cell number if ya really need to know why.

what i do know, is that the magic number of 2500 miles a week was the gospel at the academy. for a LARGE percentage of those in my class, that was a pipe dream. after 3 months, 1400 was the avg not the exception. and on a side note, since i've gotten way off topic for this thread, putting new drivers with new/trainee dms. wow, who ever came up with that idea is a "genius" in a special way. lets put two new to the business folks together and watch what happens.

i'm glad your doing well there, i have no animosity towards ffe for now. I talk with ffe drivers pretty much on a daily basis still. it is what it is, there are hundreds of trucking companies out there each with it's own personality. just takes some time to find one that fits who you are.

I have been getting about 2000 miles a week so far. This week is looking to be around 2400 miles for me. I was tested with a load that picked up in Plainwell, MI at 2200 and delivered in Chicago 10hrs 45min later. First, I expressed my concerns to my DM about the times scheduled. That I would not have anytime available to leave the receiver. Unfortunately, the only drivers in the are were Lease Ops and they rejected the run. So, I said ok that I will figure it out. Then next thing I did was call the shipper (the load was drop and hook) and asked if the load was ready. This was at noon. To my surprise, the load was ready at 11am. I then called the receiver and asked if there was a place I could park overnight and sure enough, there was right on their property. So I ran over, dropped and hooked and drove the 3 or so hours to Chicago and parked over night at the receiver. Walked in the next morning and unloaded.

hey cabwrecker was wondering what happened to you -- how you been - i never see anyone from your class -- seen cindy a couple times first week of august she was testing out finally ---- maybe drop greg peace a line and maybe he can find out for you why your not doing as good mile wise -- the last quarter should be your best then january and febuary are typically slow for any biz-- this will be my best week so far over 3500 miles and had an 11 stop ltl load and i had 2900 the week before -- i am not sure if i am just lucky or what --- but i will take it lol --- might be something your doing or may be your dm but wont hurt to find out whats going on -- remember the stupidest question is the one that is not asked lol --- they have the frieght so get your fair share -- on way to bridgeview tommrow heading to winterhaven so will take a day off down there i hope and see my dad and 2 brothers and get a reset unless they need me right away -- at least i can stop at my favorite truckstop on I-75 in gainesville --- food is ok and they seem to be busy but they must not pay there help much because the waitresses cant even afford to wear clothes -- i feel bad for them so i allways give them an extra dollar or two lol --- stopped there in training and my trainer fell in love lol --- well i would just write greg a note on people net and ask what the problem is maybe it will change your luck

I got my first LTL load the other day. It went from Burlington to the Pittsburgh area. So, I left at midnight, drove for 6 1/2 hours, and then fought rush hour traffic in between drops. It's good to know I can do it, but I don't think LTL is for me. I prefer the long-haul TL much better. I am at Hershey now waiting to load so I can head to Florida. I am going to stop by "home" on the way and get my stuff.

I think I am averaging about 2000 miles a week. I am never late and never call my DM. I could get more miles, but they give you 7 days for a 2000 mile load. For example, I went from Plainview, TX to Lynn, MA and had a whole week to do it. I got there three days early, but I could not unload until the appointment time. I think this will be OK. I think 2700 to 3000 miles a week would be perfect though.
