i've got a 00 freightliner classic, detroit, super 10, 3.70 rears... i paid $16,000, and dropped another $4,000 on tires, so i've got one of those el cheapo trucks you could say... my most expensive repair so far in the last 2 years, $275 for a starter and i put it in myself... i'm currently at 966,000 miles, burns NO oil, i've NEVER been on the side of the road except to water the tires, and i am consistently at 7.3-7.9 mpg, grossing 75-79K lbs, running ALL over the lower 48. the last 3 weeks, i started SC - NYC - Albany, NY - Sacramento, CA - Lovelock, NV - Las Vegas, NV- El Paso, TX - Laredo, TX - Indianapolis, IN - Harrisburg, PA - Edison, NJ - Norfolk, VA - Miami, FL - and back to good old Myrtle Beach, SC... so every type of terrain in the course of 3 weeks, with an overall average of 7.6 mpg

Well, I would post IFTA numbers, but since the carrier I am leased to handles all the IFTA with no charge to me for anything, including making up any fuel tax shortage, it would be difficult. But my pump to pump numbers, I have them for the last 6 years, in both my hand journal, and on spreadsheets. Mid 7's is where my average is.
Actually, the carrier is getting their IFTA numbers from my qualcomm that reads the ECM. They are making out like a bandit, because my ECM readings are higher than my actual average. The ECM was showing a full .5 mpg better than I was actually getting in my last truck. With this one, it is pretty darn close to the real thing.
Maybe then, I should try to get those IFTA reports for you since you seem to want to take stock in that form of data. Then my numbers would be in the 8's for my average and better than what I stated here.
Winter fuel is starting to show up. My average this month has been right at 7.3 mpg, so it has dropped a little. -
Cowpie, can I trust the Q.C. readouts like actual miles etc. We just went Q.C. and it shows 5000 more miles than the speedo........

My friend bought some stuff , i dont recall the brand but it cost about 120 bucks for the gallon and was promissed better fuel economy...not . He swore it made it worse, any feedback on those products? Also I talked to another driver out there and he said that he would change his air filter at every oilchange, with the price of those do you think they pay for themselves or is that a bit extreme?
-
My air filters are $165 each (2) .... They recommend changes at 50k miles ... I will stick to that
-
Ya i figured that was a bit pricey to change out that often....165$ OUCH!!

I came out of a 386 pete to a 2010 t660 and I will say exactly the opposite. The 660 handle a bit nicer but evrything else sucks specially the storage compartments are much smaller and inconvenient

IFTA quarterly fuel mileages are not always accurate. As cowpie said his is from the QC, his last truck was not accurate, his new one is close. Alot of company's use a computer program to generate the mileage numbers, numbers that you know darn well are in their favor, not IFTA's. Some company's, like the one I am leased to, go off of the odometer.
-
That's all accurate. I do my own, and that can easily be altered as well by simply leaving off fuel tickets. I do mine legit (easier to do it right than try to remember how I cheated).
w900, detroit 12.7, 13 speed, 3.70 rears, lp 24.5 rubber. 30% empty, 70 percent at 80k or so, northeast hills, 2/3 highway 1/3 inner city driving. Highway 64-68mph. Last quarter 6.3 mpg I'd have to get home to recall the ones prior to that. -
Not only milage while drivng but if you can get buy with an apu or not idling much makes a difference also.
