Central Refrigerated Truck Stop II

If you don't mind me asking. How much did those put you back, and are they worth it to you?

 

II have a set of carharts that keep me warm and dry. I drive in tennis shoes but have a set of slip on rubber boots (half boot I think they only go about 4-5" above the ankle) they tuck behind the driver seat and keep my feet dry (assuming I dont step in a foot deep puddle).
For gloves I layer. I put on latex, then wool fingerless gloves (my wife nitted me) and top that off with my fueling gloves. It works for me.
As a hat I have a super thick wool hat (again made by the Mrs. And is dayglow orange.
I'm a bit of a safety nut so I will also toss my reflective vest on as well.

 

Close your curtain to limit the space to heat. I have slept in many snow caves that were toasty with a candle and body heat. You do not need to be right in the candle. If I did it I woukd open the little desk and out it on that. You can also get hand warmers and put a few in your bag right before you hop in.
A note with the candle make sure you crack a window, we don't want you dying of carbon monoxide poisoning

 

They were on the truck when we bought it. a company out of vancouver, Wa or around portland does them. i ran into a driver who got a set i think he said 3800

 

when i do have to chain i have insulated coverhalls and a hooded sweat shirt, i usually wind up sweating so i don't get to cold. extra blankets thermal underwear, I think they sell battery operated heaters but never had the need for one. also for chaining keep a good ball ping hammer handy to help break up the ice that build up around the wheels and landing gear. I also comes in handy for bent chain hooks and sticky slider pins. which also brings into mind a good tool kit.

If you are mechanic minded like me i try and fix as much as i can it saves money and time. like i do my lights, turn signals little stuff when i was with a company now i do a lot more now that i am an owner. just the other day jess and i replaced an exhaust stack on the right side fixed a broken coolant line, repaired a torn mud flap on the trailer, and i am sure there will be more down the road. Keep extra oil and antifreeze they come in handy you can use the empty jugs of antifreeze and fill them with water if you need to, jumper cables come in handy especially if you have a dead reefer battery and i have known to jump my truck off from the trailer a time or two.

 

I've seen those!! WHEN we buy a truck we WILL be getting those!

 

Or you could just stop playing in the snow and pick area's that don't get a lot of snow LOL

 

Best idea yet. Or just stay east like I do now.

 

Or you could just live 13 miles from the beach it's 90 here today LOL dont snow at the beach hehehe

 

Just a thought maybe get a small baking pan metal fill half way with water use a 6 inch tall candle if it tips it lands in some water hum its just a thought and a baking pans cheaper then the price on your life hate ta see ya well done.
