Define central bc.... The highways really arent that bad. Take your time when driving and remember no job is worth your life. as for starting your car in the winter.. my 2010 ford started no problem everyday in -25, -30. And i drove back from edmonton to kamloops in a snowstorm last year in my truck in 4x2 with 6 sandbags in the back no problem. stock tires

 

Shorts and t shirts? lol

 

Last winter was the warmest I can remember, don't know where you parked in all that -25 -30 everyday because western Canada was fricken warm last winter. J/S

Take a look, we didn't even have winter, wait till it's snowing sideways for a couple/3 months @ -30/35 ALL winter. LoL

We had Vancouver weather last winter my friend, you ain't seen nothin yet.

I drove out of vancouver in '67 and '68. First for GILL to Toronto and Montreal and then for T&H Cariboo Transport when it was owned by Public Freightways. Ran into northern BC and also many trip thru the canyon and Into Lilloett which was a road that seperated the men from the boys. BC has a good highway system. Last time I went was a couple trips from Edmonton to Kitimat. Love that highway!

 

let me rephrase that. for the one cold week it started fine lol

I might actually be back in alberta this winter pipe hauling so i can experience this great weather ....

btw Whats it means by 4spd axuillary?

 

Didn't watch it because I've drove down that hill hundreds of times, getting a an M/T (or loaded) super b up that ##### is another thing. (down is easy) That is the easiest hill of the 4 serious hills 5/10 minutes from town, the Beaton, Bear flats and the Montney hills are worse. Bear Flats hill goes to Hudson Hope, Beaton goes to Ceicil Lake and the Montney hill goes to Rose Prairie. We got some pretty nasty hills going north to Fort Nelson and Chetwynd too, I don't even want to talk about going to Tumbler Ridge when it's snowing... Those are just the highways, boy I could tell some stories about the bush roads.

 

What's the best way to handle those kind of hills with lots of snow in a loaded 18 wheeler?

 

Im no expert but in the winter i drove last year Its not the snow you really have to worry about, its the ice underneath when it gets compacted imo. I go slow, Chain up before getting stuck and you might have to back off the jake if it starts to lock up going down hill. Had it lock up last year going down the smasher and it got the pucker factor going but i just steered it into some snow and it worked out fine
