They'll charge you if you go over the allowed percentage. Based on the national average fuel price. ive never been charged. Thats the only thing I don't like. Its messed up but theres ways around it.

I don't understand that. Your idle percentage is effected by how many miles they give you.. I know they also get a min or hr data as well.
Just being stuck in trafffic rolling under x mph will kick you into idle time. So now we are paying them to drive lol
I knew this day would come ..
I would advise a group of may drivers to file away . That policy is absurd and inhumane.
It is their responsibility to keep your working/sleeping conditions in line with the rest of society.
Thank you for telling us about this ..
These are the kinds of surprises drivers get at orientation.
An informed driver can now choose accordingly .

Lets see. If you incure a huge medical bill that they refuse to pay,you now have huge debt that will take you many years to pay off. What would you do? I doubt you would stay with a company. I doubt you would incure debt to work for a company.

AH, yes i was sitting there and I personally saw them do this. Yes, even though there were issues before my injury I would still be there and was happy. Ever company has issues. The issue is what happened after I was injured. Also what I learned after my injury. I saw them give a load to their pet over a person who was trying to get home after being out for 5 weeks and it was even to his home town. I am glad you are happy. I would not wish what happened or how I was treated by May Trucking to any one.

Thats right. I went an entire month shutting the engine down as fast as I could anytime I was not on the road and I was not able to get the idle down below 3%. Now you can get Idle overrides but when I was there it was never more then 8 hrs and it had to be out in the desert areas. A guy I trained at May and who worked their for a year used to pay around $100 a month to keep from roasting in his cab driving the SW states even with the idle overrides. They would tell him to sit in the TV lounge at T/S to avoid idling his truck because they could never keep him rolling If he got off the 5,10 or 15 corridor.

The kicker is that when I was there they where charging $2.50 a hour for over idle and only paying out a $1.50 per hour if you did not. And that so called idle bonus you got would have to go toward washing your truck since they did not believe in giving po's for that unless you threatened to forget to set the park break and let the truck roll down a hill. I actually had to get the terminal mng involved to get a freaking $30 po after driving all winter with a filthy truck. They spend more money on the buffet in orientation then they do on maintaining those trucks. When your trailer or truck had a annual inspection due some guy would come out to the fuel island while you where fueling and slap a sticker on the equipment. that was the inspection it got.

If you are saving up for the down to buy a house, you should only do a VA loan if you have a iffy credit score. They charge you 1 or 2 points on a VA loan and zippola on a conventional loan. That makes a big difference on the interest payout over 15 to 30 years on a fixed rate which is now an insane low of 3.3% anyway. But why give them anymore money then needed. You only use the VA option if you don't qualifiy for the conventional.

Do they make you sign something in orientation allowing them to take this out of your pay without permission?
Either way I see this as absolute fraudulent and immoral behavior. I know some other carriers charge for going out of route and some even have the testicular fortitude to charge for minor incidents. Over all charging an "employee to work" .
If they cant afford to take care of the drivers then they should expeditiously go out of business for these immoral absurd policys .

Yep you sign off on the Idle policy in Orientation. My current job required 6mo in the last year. Since I had not driven 6mos in the previous year, I went to May. I left exactly 6mos to the day after hiring on and was at my current job 2 days later. A couple of people did walk out of orientation when they explained the idle policy.
Remember this was when it was 10% in winter and 20% in summer if it is 45% now it must of become a recruiting issue. But then again they cut driver pay after I left so they are still paying to idle.

Did they change this in the last 2 days??? I was just told by a recruiter from Payette, Idaho (aka: Voni) only 2 days ago that idle allowance was 20% and you are charged back dollar for dollar after that. I only hear bad things about May from other drivers, school instructors, ex drivers. Only on here do I fins a couple drivers that claim they are awesome.
