Day? Shop time... cement only sets at night. (you'll learn)
The first priority is to ensure the truck and pumping equipment is ready to go. All service items are taken care of on the truck. There are several centrifugal pumps and one to two triplex pumps. They all have seals and maintenance items that must be attended to, fluids to be topped up, etc. There are lots of valves; plungers, butterfly, high pressure, etc., that all need to be maintained; rubbers replaced, valves greased, etc. Several hoses that need to be inspected. Treating iron inspected and chiksans maintained/repaired. Parts inventories (unions and crossovers).
Depending on the size of the base and how the operations are set, you might be involved in running the bulk plant; accepting bulk cement, flyash and additives, doing inventory, blending loads, loading trucks, delivering bulk loads to field bins. Nowadays I think a lot of field bins stay with the rigs, and those that aren't are usually delivered by third-party oilfield haulers, although some bases may do some of their own deliveries (I used to).
On locaton the equipment needs to be spotted, treating iron run and any other hoses for water, mud, cement, etc., run. Starting out you will most likely be running the bin/surge can and other labour jobs. After the job everything gets rigged out and loaded back on the truck(s). Back at the shop your first stop is the wash bay, and then the cycle repeats.
Oh yeah, at some point you're going to chip out cement... it sucks.
Basically, you are responsible for a mobile industrial pumping unit with high and low pressure pumping circuits, hydraulics and mechanicals, plus the truck (and trailer if so configured). -
The position is as an cement operator for sanjel. They will upgrade my license to a class 1. Why don't you like cementing?
-
Where did I say I didn't like cementing? I have done thousands of cement and other pressure pumping jobs.

Ahh alright. My misunderstanding. Sounded like you didn't like it. I think its a great opportunity. They are saying that I'd be able to take more courses/schooling in the spring breakup period and get an even better paying job. They sound like an exceptional company with a lot of room for advancement
-
I think it can be a fantastic opportunity for a young guy, especially if you are a hard worker, motivated to advance your career and eager to learn. Sanjel has its pros and cons, but so do all the same companies (Trican, Calfrac, Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes, etc.). I have worked for a Sanjel company (in the office) as well as hired Sanjel to do some specialized work and have gotten to know the owners and senior management and I wouldn't hesitate recommending the company. Some others on here may have some more specific field experience. You will always find detractors, so learn what to pay attention to and what to ignore. Sanjel has expanded their operations quite significantly in the last few years, so that translates into lots of opportunity.
I have posted before, but I started with Dowell (Schlumberger) when I was 20. I started doing the same job as you will (I only had a class 5). Within six months of being in the field I was supervising jobs and within a few years I was working overseas. I was given/earned a lot of responsibility when I was young because I kept my head down, my mouth shut and worked my ### off. I paid attention to what was going on around me, volunteered for every #### job/posting that no one else wanted to do and took on a bunch of things by my own initiative and I think it was well worth itoilfield Thanks this. -
Now that's some real advice! Thanks. I plan on doing the same thing. If I accept the offer (which I think I will), I'll start training on November 5th! I'm excited
