I went through school for driving and got good grades. I have a good driving record with no wrecks or duis. They trouble im having is that as a teen through my early 20's i endulged in marijuana. Had a minor possesion charge in the late 90's and paid a hundred dollar fine. My biggest hurdel seems to be the fact that I failed a non dot pre employment drug screen 12 years or so ago. Im 34 now and have passed the last dozen tests ive had to take through work and school. I havent even been around pot for years, that part of my life is over. Is the test I failed something that an employer can look up? Is this something I should just forget to mention? Is this something that will haunt me forever? And lastly, Im looking to stay reginal and be home weekly or close to it. Anyone aware of a company that would give me a shot at an opportunity like that and overlook something dumb I did as a youngster?

    Thanks in advance.

Don't listen to these guys. Don't falsify your application. It won't look good and you may have to pay your own way home. Next company you try to apply for will have that on your record that you falsified your application. Those are so long ago. They won't care. It will actually look good because you have been clean and out of trouble for so long. You only have to give your employers for the last 10 years. So be honest and you have no reason to worry.

A 12 year old non dot drug test means squat,

has nothing to do with falsification......

What I'm saying is don't go into as you are hiding something because they only go back 10years. But if you think you are going to play the opps I forgot game in trucking. You won't be in it long.

Ive actually been told by 3 companies I was disqualified for the failed ua. It was so long ago, and I have passed many since. I had hoped it would be a non issue, but that doesnt seem to be the case.

Yes do t even mention a non dot drug screen they will have no way to check that , so don't say a word never volunteer information that will incriminate you, I would say no to all questions in that area , smile keep your head up , get your confidence up and go take that job and do the best you can , good luck !!
