The motel wifi part I get, the hair washing I don't. The bugs, ok, I'll agree.

Nothing more than a money grab, if you look at the list of stops they have the VIP parking at, its all stops that are filled no matter the time of day. Its only going to get worse as they see how many drivers are willing to use it also.

you need to PLAN know where you going to be at and at what time depending where you're at T/S can start filling up as early as 1900 so you might have to cut your day short an hour or so to park somewhere you want not where you have to park ,,,thats depending if the load allowes you

I have not used the service yet but i will if i need to be somewhere ay 8 am and need this TS to stop at at 2 am
    i appreciate it is available
just like if I need to go to Miami I am happy to pay at the 595 TS compared to sitting up in Fort Pierce
not a money grab unless you using it by force unwillingly called buisnes

you think it is cheap to own acres of parking for us that buy nothing just use the place to sleep

Truck stops are my last resort for parking.
I'm lucky all my delivery locations are private property with big parking lots.
They allow us to sleep there and we have a key to the building for the bathroom if needed.
Some even have security that keeps an eye on me at night.
I do a lot of running at night and it works out great.

The truck stop to me is fuel only and a quick shower at times.

Make sure you leave yourself PLENTY of time to find a spot. It cant be overstated.
I try to avoid the 'stops.

Are those listed on a GPS or do you just have to know they exist beforehand?

Yea I can totally understand about planning where you are going to stop. I just figured if you start early in the morning and then finish your day early evening you should be able to find parking at the bigger chain ones.

AM-BEST http://www.am-best.com/locations/truckstop_locations.cfm is a lot of independents all put together. I like going to them as much as I can. Almost always parking available, and a different choice of restaurant every time. Dennys, TA, whatever Loves and Pilot offer as "food", gets boring pretty quick.

There's a booklet sold at most truck stops "Pocket Truck Stop Guide" it shows a large amount of truck stops/rest areas. It divides up the states and list everything they have record of according to interstate highways (by exit) US and other routes by towns and cross roads. It costs around $6 and is an invaluable piece of information to have in your truck. Its blue in color and it's a small booklet.

The GPS is great, I love my RM710, however, my atlas and pocket truck stop guide hasn't failed me, both of these items should be mandatory on the PTI checklist IMO.
