    Here's your drive axle:

    http://www.meritor.com/products/axles/truck_rearsingle/default.aspx

Liftable tag might be a problem with several suspensions, have to figure out something for that, or what suspension will work...

Biggest problem is to find a dealer that doesn't think you're an idiot and is willing to help set up the most fuel efficient truck. easiest way to go is direct drive trans and liftable tag axle. And i would suggest 13 liter engine but at REM 15 ltr Isx's do just as well as the smaller engines...

Will paccar allow a lift on that axle in your link?

Can't speak for Paccar on this one,Cat.

    The technology isn't a issue.
Daf(and Scania/Volvo) started with lift axles in the late 60's.

Maybe show some Daf documentation to the Paccar dealer and have him contact Denton/Kirkland?
And they are meritor axles,so they might be open to the idea?

    Something i found out.

Peterbilt uses Reyco suspension systems(besides it's own)
Turns out that Reyco has this:
    http://reycogranning.com/cat.php?p=3149&g=914&t=1
A liftable system for tagaxles up to 22 000 lbs.(can be in pusher version also, even with a steeraxle)

Put the single drive also on Reyco and it is one compagny doing the whole suspension.

Saw a COE today with a front axle tag. It works better on a COE because there is no carrier-berring. The driveshaft is short and 1 piece..... just an observation I made.

Very true! Front tags are actually ok as long as you dont meet slippery conditions, on ice they are just rubbish, every axle set up has their pros and cons but in my experience the rear lift is king eventhough my current machine is 6x4, I'd also rate a 4x2 ahead of a centre lift

Front tas don't work very well in deep snow, is what they tell me here. And that sounds quite logical...
