Been there for years. If it wasn't any good. I would have left years ago. Good equipment, good miles and good pay.
HwyPrsnr Thanks this. -
Maverick is a true American success story; it achieved that success by being a good company.

To my pals thanks for the good feedback!

I have loaded in the same places as some maverick drivers, they always seem to have decent equipment, look like mostly reitnouer trailers.

And one of the founding members of The Alliance For Driver Safety and Security.... whose primary goals only are mandated Elogs and 65 mph speed limited trucks.
-
Actually, they used to be governed at 70 and now 68 (insurance reasons). Yes we do have elogs and so will everyone sooner or later.
-
I have elogs. I like them. My truck is governed at 2100 rpm, which in the top gear is around 135 mph. I usually run right at around 62. It is good business sense to do so. That isn't the issue. It is downright unAmerican to petition the government to regulate everyone else. Yes, I said it is unAmerican. I really don't care what a company or individual does on their own. It is the progressive mindset that feels the need to have the government regulate others because they don't do it like you do. Now, to do it the right way, would be to petition the government to roll back national truck speed limits to 65 mph. That would be fair to all. But to have the government go after other truck owners, be it a fleet or individual owners, and make them physically restrict their equipment is not right.
And neither has anything to do with safety. It is unsafe to have a restricted truck, on a 60 mph two lane stretch of road, trying to pass a vehicle, and hanging out there in the other lane any more than necessary, because the truck will not go over 65, putting all vehicles in a precarious situation if someone was to turn onto the road or whatever. It shows these folks are not concerned with safety, but with restricting other trucks to do the same as them. They live in the cubicles in their offices and think the world of trucking is a 4 lane, flat or low rolling hill experience.
It is not a equal situation, but the mindset is the same.... this kind of mindset is what gets soldiers killed unnecessarily in combat zones. "you cannot have a loaded magazine in your rifle except when we tell you to". That got 230 Marines and others killed in Beirut. It is getting people killed in Afghanistan. Wanting government to put restrictions on people, just because it feels politically correct, and discounting common sense has many unforeseen problems.Last edited: Oct 22, 2012
