If I float gears during my road test, will that cause me to fail my test? Don't have a problem with much else, have some flatbed and lots of heavy haul exp. tarps will be a new thing but chains and binders will be nothing new. Have never double clutched and have tried on occasions but it don't work for me. Any and all help is much appreciated. Thanks and safe and happy driving.

A road test is more of the individual testing you. With your experience demonstrating you can shift fine floating it will be no problem. They know that's how you are going to drive. No curbs, no U-turns, and observe any yellow bridge clearance signs and you'll pass with flying colors.

Thanks Condocruiser, the reason I asked is because I hear in different forums this company likes to send people home. And this is the only area I need info on. The rest is basically learning how to keep a steel coil from running your butt over.....and on the trailer. I really don't need to quit my job just to get sent home. A driver/recruiter? called me and I asked him and even he wasn't sure. By driver/recruiter I mean the one that called me said he was a driver there, but helped out the recruit depot. Whatever that meant. And again thanks.

floating is fine , I did the road test with 3 other " recruits" and noone doubleclutched. drive legal and safe , don't showoff , don't hit anything , you win.

. Thanks AZCannon, that's what I need to hear. Although I talked with Lucy this morning and I will be now attending orientation the 29th now as after waiting at our Houston yard for 8 days to get my truck fixed I got a replacement unit and IT is now broke down....(gotta love this placeL. Anyhow thanks for the thread, can't wait to be skateboardin' again. You guys and gals be safe and happy trucking.
Azcannon Thanks this. -
Yup, I floated during my RT and not a word was said about it. Just make sure when backing, you use your horn and get out and look.
Azcannon and TopHat1962 Thank this. -
Glad to hear about horn. I always get out and look. It seems like a lot of happy drivers at melton hope to finally get there.
