Ok I'm back. I have my eyes on two trucks at a cash price. A 2006 t2000 with a fresh overhaul with no papers because its an old swift truck. The guy I worked for bought a 2006 Columbia from the same guy, an old swift truck too, with a million miles an fresh overhaul. It runs great. He's asking 24, I got him down to 22k, but I wont give but 20. The other is a 9400i with 670k miles, an old Hogan truck. International wants 25, I got them down to 20k. The catch?? Automatic fuller with clutch?!?! I talked to a few ppl, who says this automatic with clutch is electic an costly to fix. Which makes sense, cause. their is no overhaul only new brakes. I believe hogan gave back to international b/c of the future expenses...tranny, overhaul, etc... Both trucks has an isx cummins, which is more than detroit to overhaul. I'm holding out til I get the right truck, as we can see, I'm in no rush to hit the road again. My wife 6mths with my first child, an my disabled pops is staying with us. But truck wont sit. I have an uncle who was an owner op and is out of work but with more experience who is helping me look for a truck. He will run it until I'm ready. Any suggestions on good used trucks around 20k? Thx for all input!!!

I would try to stay away from a cummins ISX. Just my preference because of the EGR problems and also the cam wear problems.

It's been said here before and needs to be said again. If it doesn't have papers it was never overhauled. Think about it, even if a shade tree mechanic did the overhaul, who spends that kind of money on a motor and doesn't have a stack of receipts to prove it? Another thing that strikes me as odd is I have never seen a Swift T600 tractor, never. Swift has lots of T660's, the newer models 08's and up, but I've never seen a T600 in their fleet.... Not saying they absolutely never had any '06 T600's, cause maybe they tested 20 or a 100 of them and I just never saw one before.... .... it just seems awful suspicious to me.

i guess you would have to ask someone who was not only experienced in all of those, but profitable in all of those

because not all van drivers are created equal, so i could be making a lot of money and the next man is going broke
