Hmmm, The only state I know of that uses a different channel is Kalifournia, IIRC they use 15? Possibly some parts of Canadia use a differnt channel, I cant remember? Anyone know what channel they use in Mexico?
Used to be (before cell phones, way back when drivers used the cb to comunicate) individual companies had a "home" channel and drivers for that company would either stay on that channel (to get away from the bs of sesame street) or go to that channel to bs with a driver from the same company. IIRC many companies used our home channel 35, but back then if you ran across someone else on your channel it was no big deal, someone would go to another channel without a cb war breaking out, we acted like adults!!
I leave my CB off most of the time now

Bud you are so right ! But on the other hand it's stress relief , for instance , when my kids were just kids and we were all going out together , I would say on the count of three everyone blurt on whatever they wanted , swears were always what the kids blurted out , but yes it can be annoying but keep an open mind , we get bored out there and sometimes having some fun , getting someone to come back either neg or pos really helps in keeping you focused and awake !!

i can understand good CLEAN fun, even an off-colored joke
but the complete nonsense is what is the most disturbing, "burping, no panties" complete juvenile behavior
when my 10yr old son is wondering why grown men act the way they act, something is wrong
and we should all speak is if our mother or children are in the truck, and sadly, some do not care at all, and think it is their right to pollute the airwaves with whatever gutter talk they can come up with -
Ain't nothing wrong with a long deep burp.

Hell no !!

Back from 1998 to 200 when we experienced very high solar activity, channel 19 (and all the other channels) was full of skip during the day. The phenomenon is neat because while your buddy may be running down the road ahead of you, someone from many states away can often walk all over him with no problem, unintentionally. The signals are often so strong that someone many states away can put your signal meter in the red while the driver a few miles away can barely be heard. We are in the midst of solar cycle 24 at the moment and it is increasing, expected to peak early next year. Incidentally, scientists say this is the weakest cycle of the past 100 years.Last edited: Oct 19, 2012
Iwllnotlaydown Thanks this. -
have been hearing alot of really good skip the past week but only made contact with one guy who got pissed off cause he was trying to talk to some "lady mustang".
I could hear her but could not get a response. Been picking up a guy calling himself Motor Mouth Maul. His set up sounds amazing, has to be pushing some serious watts. Says he is from the bay area, was picking him up in tennesee and again in iowa. Also I cant understand how someones day gets ruined because someone "isn't wearing any panties."its sad you take life/yourself so seriously everyday, i feel sorry for you.

Its annoying and I refuse to put up with it. You can accept it as something that must be tolerated in order to get use out of your radio, but I got better things to do with my time so my radio stays off. -
If I'm towing a "legal" (meaning, non-OD) load, unless I'm running with a friend or see one, my CB stays off...
I will ocassionally turn it on to let other driver's know what's going on, say I'm northbound, pass a wreck, and there's driver's 2-miles back on southbound wondering what happened, I'll also typically let driver's further up the road know to find an exit and route around it if they want to save time...
When I'm oversize, the CB comes on for three reasons...
A.) I'm running with a friend or see a friend...
B.) Someone wants to pass me and the situation is tight enough to necessitate me guiding the passing maneuver...
C.) Pilot cars...
Other than that, it stays off.
