Wanted to give this thread a "bump"! Also to share that I have gotten a LOT of useful info from joining OOIDA, and from listening to "road dog trucking" on XM radio 106. Some of it is useless BS, but most is very informative and entertaining! Keep it between the ditches y'all!

New member here... Just had a quick question.
My husband had been driving for several years, both locally and over the road.
I've decided to get my cdl so we can team. My question , is it possible for my husband to be my trainer? I'm not real fond of the idea, of being housed with a strange man while do my training.

most (not all) companies have female trainers

Yes, your husband should be able to train you provided he has the over the road experience to do so. The only stipulation to this is that he will most likely have to drive for the company for a period of about three months or so prior to you being trained. Usually its about the same amount of time as your probationary period. (90 days). This will also give him time to learn all the companies operating procedures and paperwork and such.

    Lenrod Thanks this.

Here's a lil bump for this thread! We are still doing our homework, learning more everyday!
I spend my one hour commute listening to Kevin Rutherford (on XM 106, or iTunes podcast) and Aubrey Allen Smith "Truth about Trucking" show on blog talk radio (or podcast). Both are very informative and provide different perspectives.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and got to get home to be with family!

Wow, this has been inactive for quite a while. Well since I'm here I'll offer to give what help I can. If anyone wants to know about hauling fuel for a living you can ask here so that others may read it. Or, if that would be considered thread hijacking (although I don't know how as this thread was dead as disco) you can ask elsewhere.
