Some companies, well known, are offering positions with a half cent per mile raise. Pretty pathetic considering what everything costs now days.

On a 100,000 mile yearly average, that 1/2 cent is $500.00

Get with one of those companies running to Alaska. Don't have to worry about the miles at least. One is flatbed & one is reefer.

    fairchildfreight.com (reefer)

    systemtrans.com (flatbed)

that would also be a $500 fuel bonus that likely netted the owner $4500 or more too.

At least the owner is sharing some, with the driver.

Not O/O. Just looking at Mays offer for new drivers. That 1/2 cent is after six months, 1 cent per year. Which is not bad actually using autocars example of 100,000 miles, it would be about $20 a week.

If you get it 4 years in a row, you gave yourself a $2,000+ raise

that's not even getting close to the accepted 3-4% needed for a cost of living adjustment.

For someone earning $36,000 annually, that's $1060 annually.

    chalupa Thanks this.

Many companies have tricks attached to bonuses. Fuel bonuses you have to average 10,000-12,000 miles a month. Go home one time and you lost it. Dispatcher or planners don't perform and you lost it. Or maintain so many mpg's and you get all heavy loads in the mountains. :)

Safety bonuses, one log book error or faulty inspection by an leo with an attitude and out the window that one goes.

Over the years I've only seen a small percentage of drivers actually get bonuses. Most are unreachable unless you go to the extremes.

Cost of living raises should be 3% every year which is about 1cpm. Drivers have been making the same money for a decade.
