The other day at the Warfield weigh station on I-85 @ about the 25mm in VA, my prepass gave me a red light. But the sign said closed. I'm sure the station was working, but I'm thinking the signed said closed due to a long line of trucks on the ramp. So I kept riding. Is there any protocol for a situation such as this? Will this be recorded as a drive by by the prepass?
Pre Pass red light, but station sign said 'closed'

According to PrePass the scale sign always takes precedent, so if it said closed you're fine.

Are there instances when I have to pull into a weigh station?
You must pull-in any time your transponder gives you a red light or if you are hauling one of the special load types listed in the PrePass Driver Information Guide.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
My little book that came with my trespass said follow the trespass in Louisiana even if their electronic sign says pull in. But if the station has a closed sign out it's closed mo matter if there are trucks in line ir not. They maybe finishing the last trucks before closing for the day or, as I saw in Oklahoma two days ago, the line if trucks may be to long to safely bring anymore in the station. I got a green light though. Line was out to highway. I would gave bypassed and risked the ticket. I am not sitting in the drive lane of a highway stopped just to enter a weigh station.

Normally during the course of the day the line is too long and the scale house will run the closed/red light sign to clear out existing trucks in the scale lane. Most scale houses once the line reaches close to the inside traffic lane will pop up the closed sign to prevent any accidents.
Follow the scale house signs.silver dollar and TRKRSHONEY Thank this. -

I don't have prepass and don't make it a habit crossing scales, but if they happen to be open and are backed out into the highway there is absolutely no way I'm stopping. Good way to get hit and then be hit with a lawsuit for being stopped in road.
