Looking at an OS load that will take me thru NE. After looking at my OS book, it says over 12' 1" requires an escort, but a strobe/amber light will take place of an escort up to 16' wide. Is that correct??? The loa I'm looking at is 12' 11" wide.

"A lightbar conforming to Department Rules and Regulations may be used in lieu of an escort ON DIVIDED HIGHWAYS."
Which way are you needing to go across? Anything other than Interstate 80 or 76 is going to require a pilot. -
Not allways, They have a provision about a light bar can replace escorts on sections of U.S. 6 and U.S. 30 I believe it is in western parts of Ne.
Will state it on the permit.
Also watch the curfew times in Omaha and Lincoln.
Have fun. Easy trip.. -
Yes, it was just going straight across I80 but the was gone when I called about it this morning. I hate when that happens.

That sure is a strange law. I dont haul that far west so Iam not up on the rules.

Actually, there are other states that say something similar...in particular about night driving. Mississippi comes to mind. That statement about the lightbar came off my last Nebraska permit. I was stepping northbound up hwy 75, not on the bigroad.

I drive local in the omaha area and always have an escort for 12 and wider roof trusses
