ACH, My low carb diet is actually the paleo. I guess I should say it is a diet where there is no junk food at all and all I drink is water. I keep fruit to a minimum. Mostly protein, fat and veggies. Works every time for me. Even for my blood lipids.

I'm in line haul at Reddaway and I run mostly nights. Once did a morning run. In line haul we can work any day or night. I always work nights though. It's supposed to be 3 runs one week and 2 runs the next. Estes did it like that and so did Yellow back in the day. When I was at Yellow the line haul drivers (road drivers) could do shuttle runs, over night runs or the rail yard all day. They would call me any time day or night. I did a lot of rail during the day there. At Reddaway all I do is over night runs even though they belong to YRC. Local guys at my yard work Monday - Saturday. I'm in a small yard though so I don't know how other yards are.

In other words you won't have much of a life for a while and you will be a slave to the phone. If you don't need much money and can deal with lay offs then give it a shot. Once you get some seniority you will be glad you did it.

Oh yeah!!! Lots of fun. This weather is from Wyoming. Sorry I didn't put that in the pics. I was kinda lucky. I was asleep while my partner drove in this. Now it's my turn. Dropped and hooked Salt Lake and now on our way back to Chicago. Gonna be an exciting night. According to the WY DOT its bad from Wamsutter, WY all the way to the Nebraska state line. I'm gonna try to make it to Cheyenne before we switch out.

YRC has two terminals near me, one has about 500 trailers sitting in it and the other is just about as big. Although, they were talking about closing the one closests to me. How much seniority would I probably need to have a regular schedule?

It seems like the pay scale moves up pretty fast. Do you think they'll get the 15% back in 2015.

YRC here was claiming they'd actually hire you right out of school, if it's one they approve of. But, I thought I might still have to work someplace else first, since they're jobs seem to be going pretty fast lately. Although, they weren't when you guys were busier.

Holland is pickier, but they're literally 5 minutes from my house. Although, it looks like it's about half the size of one of the YRC terminals.

What two terminals are you talking about. If you are a little more specific maybe I can answer some of your questions.

I'm going otr again so I guess I'll get to deal with it too. Looks like it might be a long winter. Even got snow in Cali already.

As far as if they will hire you out of either terminal. I'm really not sure about those two. They are very specific terminals. By that I mean Copley is the terminal that Triples are brought in and out of. It's also known as our Akron terminal. Richfield AKA Cleveland is what is known as a relay point. That is where any and all freight going from the east coast to the west will come thru there at some point. I heard not long ago that Akron was hiring road drivers just not sure if they'll hire without experience. I know they do in Chicago. Not sure if your willing to relocate but they will put you in a truck tomorrow in Chicago. For a regular schedule, that's a very tough question. It could take as much as 6-10 years. I really have t been to either of those terminals in a couple years. They pays scale goes up every year. Both on your anniversary date and every April 1st all union employees are given raises thru our contract. Whether or not we ever get the 15% back that depends on who you ask. If you ask the doom and gloomers they will tell you no. I on the other hand am a little more optimistic and fell we will one day. Holland is a whole different animal. I know a guy that quit Yrc and went to Holland and LOVES it. Those guys stay out all week long where at Yrc you go home every other day or at least every couple days. Hope that answers some of your questions.
